Get ‘exotic’ unit reward
THIS MODIFICATION DOES NOT WORK WITH SAVES THAT STARTED THE GAME (CAMPAIGN) WITHOUT THIS MODIFICATION.
Sometimes, playing for one of the Roman factions, you can receive a task from the Senate with the reward ‘exotic unit’ (‘You will be rewarded with a major exotic unit’; ‘You will be rewarded with one minor exotic unit’; ‘You will be rewarded with two minor exotic units’), but due to a bug in the Remaster version of the game, when completing such a task, instead of a ‘reward’ you may receive the message: ‘You cannot be rewarded since you cannot recruit any units’.
This modification adds ‘ hotkeys’, with which you can quickly add a random unit from the list (‘minor’ or ‘major’ exotic unit (except ‘Decere’)) to your capital. The ‘up arrow’ button is assigned to add a unit from the ‘major’ list, and the ‘down arrow’ button is assigned to add a unit from the ‘minor’ list (the keys are indicated for standard control settings. To check or change the required keys, go to ‘Settings’ – > ‘Control Settings’ -> ‘Strategy menu’ (there is a screenshot of this menu) and look/change the keys for ‘News panel: previos tab’ (corresponds to ‘major’ units) and ‘News panel: next tab’ (corresponds to ‘minor’ units)).
Accordingly, if the task said ‘You will be rewarded with a major exotic unit’, then after completing the task you will need to press the ‘up arrow’ once (or another key if you have non-standard control settings ), if the task was written ‘You will be rewarded with one minor exotic unit’ then after completing the task you will need to click once on the ‘down arrow’, if the task was written ‘You will be rewarded with two minor exotic units’ then after completing the task you will need to press the ‘down arrow’ twice. Then a random unit (except ‘Decere’) from the corresponding list will be added to your capital (provided that there are free places in the capital), without any notification!
List of ‘minor’ units:
- Velite Gladiators;
- Rhodian Slingers (mercenaries);
- Mercenary Hoplites;
- Barbarian Mercenaries;
- Numidian Mercenaries;
- Barbarian Cavalry Mercenaries;
- Scorpions;
List of ‘major’ units:
- Arcani;
- Samnite Gladiators;
- Mirmillo Gladiators;
- Bastarnae Mercenaries;
- Mercenary War Elephants;
- Scythian Mercenaries;
- Sarmatian Mercenaries;
- Decere <- This modification cannot add this ship;
- Early Legionary First Cohort (requires Marian reforms);
- Legionary First Cohort (requires Marian reforms);
Note: It is better to move to the capital before adding a unit and open the capital’s units window to be sure that everything worked (as mentioned above, there will be no notification after adding a unit).
