Great Houses: Dynastic Flags

If you want to see your Royal Flags change with your monarchs, this is your mod! Great Houses: Dynastic Flags includes over 100 historical and new designs and flag variants for each country-house combination.

Playing as any of the supported countries, with monarchy, you will receive a Journal Entry named Royal Coat of Arms where you can choose from a variety of flag designs in accordance to your dynasty. You can toggle between these options:
– Royal/Imperial Standard (Absolute Monarchy) flags
– National (Constitutional Monarchy) Flags
– House-Specific alternative flags
– Republic Flags
– Alternative Republic Flags

As non-player, AI as these countries will also change their flags according to their ruling dynasty. However, unlike player who can choose which flags to use, AI’s flag use only limits to the type of monarchy they have. For example, Austria will only have alternative flags if it’s an absolute monarchy, if it’s a constitutional one, it will be just the gold-black flag. But for formable Italy, it will have dynastic flags regardless of monarchy type. AI will not use any alternative/republic flags as they do not receive the Journal Entry.
– A new Game Rule setting for Japan dynamic flags if you’re not playing it.

– Some flags use base-game assets if they are already dynastic. For example, Germany and Italy. But the flag trigger condition has been changed from formation country origin to ruler dynasty.
– United Netherlands: Removed dynamic name "Burgundy," removed red Cross of Burgundy flag, default UNL flag becomes an alternative "Spanish flag" option for house Habsburg and Bourbon.
– Japan: Dynamic map colors for different shogunates. Current game version might require save-and-load to take effect.

– HRE and Russian dynastic flags
– Chinese dynasty flags

These countries are less likely to be featured with the following reasons:
– Portugal: uses national coat of arms instead of dynastic
– Great Britain: Strong national flag without dynastic implications
– Scandinavian states: Strong cross symbol throughout history, lack of history of using coat of arms on flags
– German and Italian states: game goal is eventually major formation, lack of necessity for dynastic flags
– Switzerland: Is that flag not good enough for you?
