Desert Eagle Mark VII (.50 AE) is a large-frame, gas-operated semi-automatic pistol chambered in .50 Action Express — one of the most powerful cartridges ever used in a production handgun.
Developed by Magnum Research in cooperation with Israel Military Industries (IMI), the Desert Eagle family first appeared in the 1980s. The Mark VII variant, introduced in the late 1980s, featured an adjustable trigger and an improved safety system compared to earlier models.
Unlike most semi-automatic pistols that use short recoil operation, the Desert Eagle employs a rotating bolt and gas-operated mechanism, more similar to a rifle. This system allows it to handle extremely high-pressure cartridges like the .50 AE. The pistol typically uses a 7-round magazine in .50 AE configuration.
