Azure and Termentum are two countries that used to an single country,the kingdom of Termure (1850-1921). In 1921, following a major economic downturn due to the First World War and internal political conflicts, the eastern and western regions clashed and were separated following the "Accords of Independence of 1921",this led to the creation of the Republic of Azure and the Kingdom of Termentum.While Termentum remained independent, Azure was not so fortunate and was invaded and annexed by Soviet troops in 1927. There were attempts at independence in 1929 and 1932, but these failed and only increased the presence of Soviet troops in the region.
In 1949, following a diplomatic crisis, Azure entered another internal conflict between government forces and rebels. The situation escalated to the point of reaching the Termentum border, generating a diplomatic crisis between the countries and threats of an large-scale conflict. The result was a controversial agreement where the leaders of the countries redrew the borders , with Azure taking a portion of the central border region to "cut off access for hostile groups to the neighboring country," thus preventing the escape of groups considered terrorist by Azure. Termentum, knowing that denying the new border would give both Azure and the Soviet Union justification to invade them for "supporting extremist groups," had to abandon the region and relocate around 20,000 local residents to other areas at the south of the country. Those who once were brothers fighting for the same flag now point guns at each other, and with the imminent fall of the Soviet Union, only the future will tell the fate of these nations.
I wanted to reimagine the first two faction mods i created,giving them both a Cold War twist,as well as reimagining some details, with Azure now being a Soviet satellite state and Termentum a NATO member.
