Chinese Caliphates
Have you ever thought it was odd that a tribe of Sunni Nomads could conquer the Middle Kingdom, and they’d leave no lasting impact on the religious makeup of China- even if they ruled for 200 years? Surprised that a Crusader Kingdom which stretches beyond the Tarim Basin can’t even attempt to preach in the far east? Been upset that the silk road, which has historically served as a pathway for religions to enter China, is useful for money & tech but little else?
Chinese Caliphates addresses all of this & more, with systems to model the spread- peaceful or otherwise- of religion in the Middle Kingdom. Watch the eastern emperors struggle to contain the spread of foreign religions, or, in rare cases, embrace them & actively spread their new faith in their realm. If all else fails, they can always use the hammer of persecution- they’d be wise to be careful, though, as if these religious communities become too large, they can put up quite a fight.
- Compatible with the excellent Ancient Religions Reborn & Christian Immersion mods, but no other mods that add religions to the game for now.
- Provinces in China will flip to new religions when you convert to EU4, but *only* if you use the fan-made converter, found here[forum.paradoxplaza.com] or here. Will have no effect on the religious situation in China in games converted with the official paradox converter.
- With the converters being updated for IRtoCK2 conversions, some ancient religions have support. Reformed Celtic & reformed Egyptian should work normally, but Promethean, Britannic, & Atenic are not in Imperator: Rome. To ‘fix’ this, the mod treats spreading Promethean, Britannic, or Atenic religions in China as spreading Zalmoxian, Cybelene, & Megalithic, respectively. Note that you still need to update your own personal religion_map.txt file if you are using ACR & there are provinces of those religions *outside* of China.
