Description:
A long time ago: Female Warriors (WIP)
A world full of dangerous, but also beautiful female warriors.

Mod ID: 3730483196

Description in brief:
  • Conversion of almost all NPCs from male to female.
  • Adjusted the names of the modified special NPCs accordingly.
  • Generic names of almost all other special NPCs will also be individualized.
  • All NPCs keep their original armor after conversion.
  • "Mitigation" of size specifications (min/max) in RaceTemplates applied to female NPCs (bust, noses and more).
  • 9 new Barkeepers for the Thrall Cages.
Adjustments in detail:
It doesn’t work entirely without men:
  • 4,185 NPCs will be switched from male to female. Of these, 3,556 are normal NPCs, 614 are world bosses, bosses, mini-bosses and named NPCs. I’ll talk about another 15 modified NPCs later.
  • The NPCs I excluded from the transition were those with special meaning or functionality in the game. These include Dialogue, Event and Companion NPCs. It makes no sense for me to switch male Dialogue NPCs if I can’t adjust their voice acting accordingly.
Individual Names for unique NPCs:
  • In total, this mod contains 666 individual or individualized names that I manually adjusted.
  • For 556 of the 614 special NPCs mentioned above, I have adjusted the names accordingly. The remaining 55 sounded feminine enough to me.
  • I changed the names of another 95 NPCs because the female name sounded too masculine to my German ears, or because they previously only had generic names, such as the "Cimmerian Berserker" (now "Cimmerian Berserker Melina").
  • If I haven’t missed any, all World Bosses, Bosses, Mini-Bosses and Named NPCs now have individual names that sound feminine, at least to my ears.
  • The 15 NPCs mentioned above are the followers of the 8 human Mini-Bosses in the Unnamed City: The "Relic Hunter Treasure Seeker". Actually, the game lists them as "normal NPCs". However, a long time ago they were among the best NPCs you could get as followers, which I made use of as long as possible and abundantly. For nostalgic reasons, I have therefore "upgraded" them to Named NPCs in addition to the switch to 100% female and also given them individual names.
Perhaps a bitter pill for one or the other:
  • As mentioned, this mod changes the names of 666 NPCs, among other things. One consequence of this adjustment is that the names of the affected NPCs will only be displayed in English for all players using this mod. At the moment, I don’t know of any way to achieve multilingualism here. I have recently spent four full days looking for practicable solutions for this, unfortunately without success. Especially in multiplayer online games, we players are dependent on external sources of information. I have put a lot of effort into adjusting the names only slightly. If you look on the internet for the names I have assigned, you will still find the right NPC with great probability. If you prefer to be on the safe side, please just don’t use this mod.
Additional changes/features of this mod (to my liking):
  • When you retrieve converted NPCs from your Wheel of Pain, they will wear the armor they were wearing when you captured them.
  • "Mitigating" some size specifications in RaceTemplates that are applied to female NPCs, especially with regard to oversized busts, noses, and ears.
  • In the version of this mod described here, there are no individualized RaceTemplates yet. But over time, I will use this mod to determine the external appearance at least for my favorite NPCs.
  • In addition to the "Zamorian Barkeeper", 9 other barkeepers can now spawn in the Thrall Cages (Cimmerian, Darfari, Hyborian, Hyrkanian, Kushite, Nordheimer, Shemite, Stygian, Zingarian). All 10 are of course female and equipped with the Dancer Outfit (may be changed). As "Normal" NPCs, they do not receive an individual name.
Future Plans:
  • Maybe I will define more individualized RaceTemplates for named and boss NPCs beyond my favorites. This feature was part of my private legacy version but didn’t make it into this mod for many reasons. But who knows…
  • As far as the multilingualism of the names is concerned, I don’t see any possibility of implementation in the long term, but I will keep it in mind.
The story behind the mod:

In 2019, I started playing Conan Exiles on the PS4. Actually, from the beginning I was bothered by the outer, in my opinion boringly bulky appearance of the male NPCs, as well as their voices. The move to PC in 2021 offered a solution, as there were mods here that were able to fix this issue for the most part. However, the mods available at the time weren’t perfect for my needs. That was one of the reasons why I started modding.

If anyone wonders why I’m writing so much about this mod here: It’s simply because I’ve worked on this project for dozens of hours every now and then over 5 years. Regardless of the project goals themselves, it is simply important to me today to appreciate the horrendous effort that I have already made and will continue to make for it in this form.

Special Notes on Compatibility / Load Order:

Assets NOT modified according to the "best practice" principle: none.

The followers/thralls of a player/clan are not changed by "Female Warriors". They would also not be affected if the mod was unsubscribed.

"Female Warriors" does not change data in the SpawnDataTable on NPCs brought into play by other mods. The gender (the references to RaceTemplates), the name, and the "KeepArmorWhenThrallified" option remain unchanged.

If the new NPCs of another mod are female, it could be that they are based on RaceTemplates modified by "Female Warriors". Then they would probably be affected by the changed size requirements.

Important note:

My mods under the title "A long time ago: …" are explicitly aimed at Conan Exiles Veterans who have played through almost everything in the base game at least once on one of the two maps. The included adjustments may have a significant impact on gameplay and player progression, or at least on the overall gameplay experience. Of course, I can understand the desire to spend one’s precious time in a (virtual) world that comes as close as possible to one’s own preferences. Nevertheless, I would recommend every newcomer to play through the game in its basic configuration without mods in peace.

General information on compatibility / load order:

If another mod changes the same assets and/or data as this one, the adjustments of the last mod loaded (further down in the mod list) usually take precedence. Unless otherwise stated above, this mod will otherwise likely work with most other mods and positions in the load order.

Testing and Updating Policy:

The use of my mods is expressly at your own risk!
They are only tested within the framework that my life, the devkit and my very own playstyle and configurations allow. I am generally grateful for important hints in the comments, but I cannot guarantee that I will always react to them.
If you don’t agree with this "guideline", you should definitely not use my mods!

One last note:

My mother tongue is German, my English rather poor. My English mod descriptions are therefore translated with Microsoft Translator. I hope that they are easy to read and correct.
