Character Export Import
Fully export your character from one campaign and import them into another!
Ever spent hours perfecting your character’s build, only to want to start a new campaign without losing all that progress? This mod lets you save your entire character – stats, appearance, gear, perks, party, and more – to a file, then import it into any new playthrough.
- All-Hero Support – Export/import ANY hero: companions, family members, lords – not just your main character!
- Full Perk Trees – Your complete perk selections are now saved and restored
- Party Export – Export your entire party composition including all companions with their complete builds
- NPC Cloning – Copy any NPC lord’s stats directly onto your character from their Encyclopedia page
- Kingdom & Clan Data – Includes clan tier, renown, kingdom relations, and fiefs
- Mount Export – Explicit mount/horse equipment with full item data
- Native File Browser – Beautiful in-game file selection UI that matches Bannerlord’s style (no immersion-breaking Windows dialogs!)
- Diff Preview – See exactly what will change before confirming an import (GitHub-style before/after comparison)

- v2.x Migration – Your old export files are automatically converted to the new format

- To import, view any hero’s Encyclopedia page and click Import
- Review the Diff Preview showing exactly what will change (NEW in v3.0)
- Confirm the import when ready
- Open the Encyclopedia and find any NPC lord
- Click the Clone to Me button on their page
- Their stats, skills, and perks will be copied to your character
- Open the Encyclopedia to your main hero’s page
- Click Export Party to save your entire party composition
- All companions with their complete builds are included
- Import the party file in a new campaign to restore everyone
- Open console (press ~ or ` depending on keyboard)
- Type my_char.export to export your main character
- Type my_char.import to import (must be on world map)
All exports are saved to:
- Files are named after the hero (e.g., MyCharacter.txt)
- If a file already exists, a timestamp is added to prevent overwriting
- Files are plain text – you can manually edit values if desired!
- Comments in the file explain each section
- v2.x files are automatically converted when imported (NEW in v3.0)
No more immersion-breaking Windows dialogs! The new in-game file browser:
- Matches Bannerlord’s visual style perfectly
- Browse, select, and manage your export files without leaving the game
- Preview file contents before importing
- Works seamlessly with the diff preview system
- Equipment compatibility: Items must exist in your new campaign. Modded items from other mods may not transfer.
- Troops compatibility: Troop types must exist in your new campaign. Custom troops from other mods may not transfer.
- Companion compatibility: When importing parties, companions must exist in the target campaign.
- Import location: Console import requires you to be on the world map (not in a town/battle).
- Renown behavior: Renown is SET to the exported value, not added to existing renown.
- Backup saves: Always save your game before importing, just in case!
