Description:
Build-a-Courtier

Populate your court with courtiers of your own creation!

Build-a-Courtier allows you to easily add non-ruler characters to your own court during gameplay. Promote them, sacrifice them, marry them – whatever you want, you can do it.

How to use
  1. Start a game normally
  2. Press ESC
  3. Click Switch Character
  4. Choose "Create your own Courtier"
  5. Design your new courtier as desired – they will be automatically placed into the court of your last played ruler with their own minor dynasty
  6. Select your original character again or just press ESC to return to the game
  7. Keep playing

Note: Due to the way this mod hijacks the Ruler Designer, the next time you open it (for example, to create another courtier) it will appear just as you left it – i.e. with your previous character still loaded. Just overwrite them – this will not change the character you have already put into the game, it’s just a result of there not being a universal "reset ruler designer" option that I know of.

Also, in case you wonder what it does when used from the new game setup screen: If you are not already playing a ruler, it will just create an adventurer.

Compatibility

Do not enable this mod alongside any other mod that overrides the file gui/multiplayer_types.gui. Doing so will overwrite the changes of whatever mod is higher up (=earlier) in the load order. Most TC mods might have a problem with this.

It will also collide with Ruler Designer Unlocked, because it uses a similar method to make the button work during an ongoing game by modifying the UI file. Therefore, please support Hades over at RDU – this wouldn’t be possible without their work. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2478202444
Hades: in case you take issue with this mod being around, please let me know.

What does this actually do?

Basically, the Ruler Designer only creates rulers (duh) – however, this mod remembers the ruler the player is currently controlling. The Courtier creation tool pretends to create a landless Adventurer (a LAAMP), but immediately strips them of their title and force-recruits them into your ruler’s court (serves them right) after creation. And voila – fresh courtier using the pretty interface of the Ruler Designer.

PS: Apologies for the cheap AI logo.
