Description:

This mod reshuffles the Sengoku Jidai campaign map to improve how it depicts the geography of Japan. New resources have been added (clay, silk, and silver) and existing resources have been moved around to achieve this effect. The variety in what you can see on the campaign map has also been increased by tweaking the position and rotation of the castles and farms.

But maybe you don’t care about any of that. Why then would you want to install this mod?

If you’re a Chosokabe player, Tosa province now has a crafts specialty. The archers you recruit in your home province will now have increased accuracy.

If you’re an Oda player, the neighboring Mino province now has a smith specialty. There’s now a nearby place where you can train troops with sharper weapons and tougher armor.

If you’re an Otomo player, Bungo province now has a timber resource that’s more useful than the previous naval tradition specialty. Building and recruiting nanban trade ships will now become cheaper by a significant amount.

I’ll leave it here so I don’t give away every surprise I came up with. This was my passion project during the pandemic, and now that I’m entering a different phase in my life (new job, new continent, etc.), it’s time I wrapped this up.

Notes:

1. After downloading this mod, you need to start a new campaign to see the changes. The map changes won’t apply to existing games.
2. This mod should be compatible with all graphics mods and many (most?) database mods. For obvious reasons, this isn’t compatible with other campaign map mods.
3. I copied the Oda campaign banner fix from the Shogun 2 Unofficial Patch so you don’t have to download it separately. Thank you to the original creators and to the patch’s compiler.

4. The number of regions in the campaign map is the same. I really wanted to divide Iwate province (Date’s home province) into two and add the Nanbu clan, but I’ve run out of time.
5. Military ports now require the "Way of the Sea" tech to block the AI from building them everywhere.
6. The gold mining complex now requires the "Kinza Mint" tech to block the AI from rushing the gold mining chain of buildings.
7. The iron mining complex now requires a timber resource to block the AI from rushing the iron mining chain of buildings.
8. Castles and citadels now require a stone resource to block the AI from upgrading forts too quickly.
9. Minor graphical fix for the philosophical tradition chain of buildings has been added. Magistrates and Confucian law courts will now have their icons displayed in the lower left/"porthole" window when you click on them in the campaign map.
10. If you’re curious about why a specialty is present in a certain province, ask away! I’ll reply in the comments.
