Stress is Unavoidable – Late Game Stress Rebalance
A script mod that adjusts the stress gain/loss modifiers for the player character so that they can’t completely ignore stress mechanics in the late game (i.e., by having a -100% stress gain modifier).
The stress mechanics is one of the key role-playing element in the game, but, unfortunately, by the late game most player can stack enough positive stress gain/loss modifiers to make it essentially meaningless. For example, it is possible to reach a -100% stress gain modifier, so the character suffers no stress, even in extreme circumstances. It is also possible to stack so many stress loss modifiers that petting one’s dog is enough to counter the death of one’s child.
The aim of this mod is to make stress matter in the late game. This is achieved by putting a "softcap" on stress gain reduction and stress loss increase modifiers, so that stacking new positive modifiers have diminishing returns and that it is not possible to completely eliminate stress gain.
Note that the mod periodically gives and then removes a small amount of stress to the player in order to measure the stress loss/gain modifiers.
Compatible with essentially all mods, it can be put anywhere in the load order.
It is safe to add this mod to an existing game, but I recommend making a backup save. To remove the mod enact the decision to disable it (see screenshot). The mod can be re-enabled at any time with the same decision.
This mod is part of my More Late Game Drama & Challenge collection.
The mod is in English, but Chinese translation is available here .
I have tested this with my mod list and without mods, but there might still be bugs. If you encounter any, please post a comment.
