Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split (updated)
Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split (updated) is my updated and revised version of the Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split mod by Dallan for the latest version of CK3.
As Dallan didn’t update this mod within a few days as usual and also didn’t react to my attempts to contact him, I’ve decided to update this mod myself. At the moment I consider this mod as an interim solution. I’ll stop maintaining Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split (updated), as soon as Dallan updates his mod or if he asks me to do so.
Therefore, I consider this mod as Intellectual Property of Dallan; all credits belong to him.
By default, CK3 religions treat people breaking their marriage vows the same way as people taking lovers before they were ever married in the first place. This might be correct for Christian Faiths, but it seems inappropriate for various religious traditions that are also in the game. And on top it‛s quite inflexible for creating new faiths.
This mod makes the following changes:
- It adds religious doctrines governing whether fornication is accepted, shunned, or criminal for men or women. To maintain compatibility with modded custom religions and icons, these doctrines are added dynamically to every faith in the game on game start. By default, fornication doctrines will match the doctrines for adultery for each gender. If the faith treats Lustful and Deceitful differently as traits (e.g. one is a virtue or a sin and one is not) this will be varied.
- It adjusts the Tenet Polyamory to the split of the Adultery and Fornication Doctrines.
- To implement the split, this mod alters various checks that deal with Adulterer and Fornicator (Character Interaction, Decisions, Scripted Effects, Scripted Modifiers, Scripted Triggers and a lot of Events) in order to treat Adultery and Fornication differently by them.
For further information please consult the page of the original Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split mod.
CAUTION This mod doesn’t just add some Fornication Doctrines. As mentioned before, For the Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split to take effect, every reference to adultery and fornication doctrines in every interaction, decision, effect, modifier, trigger and event had to be modified. The result are almost 30 modified files. Therefore Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split (updated) mod is a complete overhaul of the in-game adultery and fornication system. So there is a great chance, that other mods might interfere by modifying the same files.
But not only adultery and fornication related mods might cause problems. As it is impossible to override a single event, the whole events file has to be included in a mod. This mod contains 16 modified events files, which contains approximately 80 events, most of them relating to complete different topics than adultery or fornication. And every mod that’s modifying one of these events will override the modifications made by this mod.
To cut a long story short, there is a huge chance, that not every feature in this mod is working as intended because of other mods installed.
I made compatibility patches for the following mods:
- Compatch for the Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines mod maintained by me.
Every other mod, that also modifies the files listed here, is incompatible!
