Bumping in the Black Sea Reloaded
Workshop ID: 3406899845
With some added radio chatter and sound effects!
SITREP: February 12, 1988. Soviet waters, southwest of Crimea Peninsula. You’re the Commander of a US Task Group engaged in a Freedom of Navigation Operation (FONOP) to enforce our right of innocent passage within Soviet territorial waters. Stay on the plotted course to enter the FONOP Zone (purple circle) before 08:15 Zulu and show the Soviets they must respect International Law. Exercise caution and only open fire if fired upon first. Good luck Commander.
Wolfpack345 played this scenario and made a nice video of it. Feel free to watch his playthrough once you’ve finished the scenario yourself, to see if you can do as well as he did 😉
Historical Notes: This is a what if scenario (loosely) based on real events known as The 1988 Black Sea Bumping Incident, when USS Yorktown (CG-48) and USS Caron (DD-970) tried to exercice their right of innocent passage through Soviet territorial waters in the Black Sea. For more information check the Wikipedia page dedicated to this incident AFTER you’ve played the scenario in order to avoid spoilers.
Design Notes: This an updated version of my previous scenario of the same name. This version adds radio chatter to increase immersion. This was done by using Speechma – Free Text to Speech Online. Radio effects were added, using Movavi 2020 editor and sound effects from Pixabay.
