Description:

Herald’s Start Positions – Alberic in Bretonnia is a lua script start position mod which moves Alberic de Bordeleaux from Bregonne in Lustria to Bordeleaux in Bretonnia.

This mod was developed alongside HSP – Morghur in Bretonnia and HSP – Athel Loren, to provide greater faction variety in and around Bretonnia, as well as HSP – Yuan Bo in Cathay, reverting Lustria into an unexplored continent for most races.

The main changes of this mod are the following:

Alberic starts the campaign in Bordeleaux in Bretonnia, at war with Mousillon;
Alberic has been completely moved out of Lustria, and is no longer at war with Tlaxtlan, his original Lizardmen starting enemy, who have been given ownership of Bregonne;
– Alberic has been provided with extra units to allow for easier early expansion, as Mousillon’s garrison is quite strong – a more immersive feature over downgrading Mousillon;
– the Red Duke’s army has been boosted as well, for the starting battle to provide a more enjoyable experience;
L’Anguille is now owned by the Skullsmasherz, and Louen doesn’t start at war with Mousillon, only with the aforementioned Greenskin minor faction. If you’re using Immortal Empires Expanded, Skullsmasherz also gained ownership of Hendaye and Tancred Castle, to allow Louen to complete his starting province through war with only one faction;
– Alberic’s faction has been renamed from "Bordeleaux Errant" into simply "Bordeleaux".

For the optimal experience of playing Alberic in Bretonnia, I recommend using Herald’s Start Positions – Morghur in Bretonnia, introducing a new early enemy for Alberic in neighbouring Bastonne, Herald’s Start Positions – Athel Loren, adjusting the starting enemies of factions in and around Athel Loren, and my other, smaller Bretonnia mods.

If you would prefer AI Alberic, or other factions from Bretonnia and Athel Loren not to venture into Middenland, I recommend using Herald’s Starting Diplomacy Mod – The Black Pit Tribe, ending the war between the Black Pit Tribe and Middenland, preventing unexpected AI behaviour from more distant Order factions, which was causing them to expand towards the heart of the Empire.

I highly recommend using this mod with Herald’s Start Positions – Yuan Bo in Cathay for a Markus Wulfhart campaign. These mods make Lustria feel more unexplored and mysterious, as it used to be in Warhammer II.

This mod is fully compatible with Mixu’s Unlocker and Immortal Empires Expanded. It was not developed keeping any new faction mods in mind.

Herald’s Start Positions mod series should work with mods like SFO: Grimhammer III, which rebalance different aspects of the game, but generally do not touch the start positions of the factions.

I also recommend using these mods together with other Herald’s Start Positions mods, and my mods in general, as they are all being developed in conjunction.

Herald’s Start Positions are now also available as a single subscription mod compilation, which will be continually updated with every future HSP mod release and update.

Credits go to Porkenstein and Swissbob for the script framework which I’m using across my start position lua script mods, and to nopeace.net for the map I used to show the territorial changes in Bretonnia.
