Herald’s UI Mod – Wu Xing Compass
Herald’s UI Mod – Wu Xing Compass is a small supplementary mod for Herald’s Start Positions – Yuan Bo in Cathay which slightly edits the UI for the Cathayan Wu Xing Compass racial mechanic, but can be used independently as well.
The reason why this is a seperate mod is because it affects the Wu Xing Compass for all playable Cathayan factions in both Immortal Empires and the Realms of Chaos, and couldn’t have been made only for Yuan Bo in Immortal Empires. If you want to play as Miao Ying or Zhao Ming with or without the edited Wu Xing Compass, while having AI Yuan Bo in Cathay, or if you want Yuan Bo to remain in Lustria in Immortal Empires, you can choose if you want to have the Wu Xing Compass mod enabled or not.
The button layout for the various Wu Xing Compass directions has been modified to correspond to Cathay’s actual geography better, considering the available button options: The Great Bastion is now north, the Dragon River is northeast, the Celestial Lake is east, Nonchang Basin southeast, Dragon Emperor’s Wrath south, Broken Lands southwest, Warpstone Desert west and Ashshair northwest.
The settlements required for Yuan Bo’s victory conditions using HSP – Yuan Bo in Cathay correspond to the compass directions and their provincial symbols from HUIM – Wu Xing Compass as much as possible, resulting in a more refined experience.

Herald’s Other Mods are now available as a single subscription mod compilation, which will be continually updated with every future HOM mod release and update.
This mod is save-game compatible. If you started a Cathay campaign without this mod, you can enable the mod mid-campaign and continue the campaign using the edited Wu Xing Compass. Beware however, that any new save games you make with this mod will require it to load the new save games. The games saved before using this mod will not be affected.
