Description:

Herald’s Start Positions – Volkmar in the Border Princes is a lua script start position mod which moves Volkmar the Grim from Sudenburg in the Southlands to Zvorak in the Border Princes, as part of a greater effort to populate the south of the Old World and the Badlands with Legendary Lords, resulting in more immersive campaigns in that part of the world.

The main changes of this mod are the following:

Volkmar starts the campaign in Zvorak in the Western Border Princes, at war with the moved Necrarch Brotherhood, who have been renamed to "Servants of Nagash";
– the Servants of Nagash now own the rest of Volkmar’s starting province, and are no longer at war with Settra;
– Sudenburg and the Plain of Tuskers are now owned by the reintroduced Sudenburg faction;
– Volkmar is no longer at war with the Dune Kingdoms, and his victory conditions have been adjusted to his new starting position;
– the Springs of Eternal Life have been transferred to the adjacent Numas Tomb King minor faction; except if using Mixu’s Unlocker, then they are transferred to Dune Kingdoms instead, who become Settra’s new starting enemy;
– if this mod is used with Cataph’s Southern Realms: it overwrites Cataph’s changes in the Western Border Princes, and the starting level of Gronti Mingol, Gashag’s remaining settlement, is increased to 2.

I recommend using this mod alongside Herald’s Climate Suitability Mods – The Empire, which turns Wastelands into a suitable climate for Volkmar.

I also recommend using this mod together with other Herald’s Start Positions mods, and my mods in general, as they are all being developed in conjunction.

Herald’s Start Positions are now also available as a single subscription mod compilation, which will be continually updated with every future HSP mod release and update.

This mod is fully compatible with Mixu’s Unlocker and Immortal Empires Expanded. It was not developed keeping new faction mods in mind, with the exception of Cataph’s Southern Realms. The Victory Conditions Overhaul mod overwrites the vanilla victory conditions, including the changes made by this mod.

Herald’s Start Positions mod series should work with mods like SFO: Grimhammer III, which rebalance different aspects of the game, but generally do not touch the start positions of the factions.
