The Thin Men are back – for real!

First seen stalking the streets in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the Thin Man returns as a full enemy unit for War of the Chosen. Unnervingly human at a glance – black suit, dark glasses – until you notice the mottled green skin and the way it moves. ADVENT’s infiltrators are agile, aggressive flankers who close distance fast, and when your squad bunches up, they unhinge their jaws and spit a cloud of poison across the lot of you. Put one down and it bursts into a final cloud of poison – killing a skinny was never clean.

What it does
  • New enemy in three tiers (M1 / M2 / M3), scaling with force level so it shows up early and grows nastier as the war drags on.
  • Counts as an alien unit – slots into existing pods as a follower.
  • Armed with a light plasma rifle. Fast, fragile, and built to flank rather than trade shots from cover. A glass cannon: high aim and crit, low HP – they hit hard and die hard.
  • Poison Spit – a wide-area poison cloud, saved for when two or more of your soldiers are clustered together. Spread out or get punished.
  • Death Cloud – when killed, a Thin Man ruptures into a lingering poison cloud. Mind where they die.
  • Suppression – pins a soldier and shreds their aim. Brutal when you’re already standing in the gas.
  • Climbs walls and onto rooftops to reach flanking positions, just like the originals.
  • Tougher variants gain Lightning Reflexes (dodges the first reaction shot), and the elite M3 gets Death From Above – kill from the high ground and it keeps going.
  • Full per-difficulty stats – on Legend they hit the EU "Impossible" statline, so they’re a real threat from first contact.
  • Drops a gas grenade 10% of the time – a nod to EU, where Thin Man research unlocked it.
  • Custom AI: moves to flank, presses the attack, suppresses when it can’t get a clean shot, and only hunkers when truly out of options. No camping, no overwatch-and-hold.

Lore note: in XCOM 2’s continuity the Thin Men were the Viper lineage – so consider this the family’s older, two-legged cousin still on active duty.
