UK Y/YY Signal Speed Limit
NIMBY’s train drivers eagerly continue at full speed until the last moment where they need to begin braking, showing a careless disregard for leaf fall season and the wrong type of snow. Teach them some defensive driving skills and threaten them with disciplinary action if they SPAD using this mod.
This script allows you to set distance-based speed limits on the approach to signals at danger, simulating drivers reacting to cautionary signal aspects.
The script is designed for UK 3 and 4 aspect signalling, where drivers receive a Yellow (Y) aspect at the signal before the one where they must stop, and a Double Yellow (YY) aspect at the previous signal in 4-Aspect signalling areas.
Rather than detecting signal state directly, the Y/YY aspects are simulated to occur at a fixed distance before a red signal – 2000m and 1000m by default. From these distances, drivers will drive at a maximum of 80mph (130 km/h) and 60mph (80 km/h) respectively.
