[WOTC] Harder/Punishing Vanilla Legendary
As someone who has beat XCOM2 with no squad size upgrade on L/I/Precise Explosives/Grim Horizon multiple times, I found the punishment for mistakes mid-game (M2 enemies/FL7+) soft. In other words, it’s difficult to lose a campaign after a certain point and the comeback mechanics/ rewards are very strong (there are complete L/I runs on YT with crazy amounts of soldier deaths, 40+).
This mod embraces Alpha Striking and expects the player to play as close to flawless as possible from M2 Force Level by making M2+ enemies way deadlier, limiting squad size and adjusting comeback mechanic rewards.
Here is a short list of changes:
-Soldier rewards on strategy layer now caps with Lieutenant on Force Level 12.
-All M2+ enemy damage increased to gravely wound Ranger/Grenadier Lieutenants with a Predator Armor upgrade and outright kill them on a critical hit. Their accuracy is also greatly increased. M3 enemies do the same for Warden Armor. Non-advent soldier aliens also have their damage/accuracy increased and late-game enemies such as Sectopod/Gatekeeper can outright one-shot veteran soldiers in warden armor if you give them a turn.
-Shieldbearer’s Energy Shield is now a free ability, and they have similar shooting stats as new Advent Captains. This makes them a high priority target now.
-Specters now prioritize attacking after Shadowbound and dealing as much damage as possible to XCOM on their first turn.
-Archon’s Blazing Pinions is now a free ability. Archons only use it under battle frenzy buff, while also having their other 2 actions for dealing damage on the same turn.
This mod should work with anything that doesn’t touch default XCOM AI for Archons/Spectres and default alien damage values.
