Description:
Just Soap

Just Soap focuses primarily on fats and alkalis, the key ingredients used in soap production. It also introduces perfume and cosmetics, since these industries became increasingly related to soap over time.

Features:
  • 2 new RGOs: Aromatics are flower extracts such as rose water and other oils from flowers such as jasmine, lavender and orange blossom. Palm Oil is a late-game trade good grown in West-Africa and mostly used locally as a cooking oil and in the production of black soap during the EU5 period.
  • 7 new Produced Goods: Soap, Perfume, Tallow, Potash, Cosmetics, Candles and Whale Oil.
  • 22 new Advances.
  • 22 new buildings that produce or consume these new goods, including Lighthouses and City Lantern Infrastructure.
  • 35 new Dynamic Historical Events involving these trade goods for France, Great Britain, the Low Countries, Venice and the Ottomans.
  • 5 new random events for the random event pool.
  • Machine lubrication upkeep for late-game mills & factories.

Compatibility & Other Notes:

Just Soap overwrites 3 vanilla files, because injecting into/replacing unique production methods seems very buggy for now (or maybe I haven’t figured out how to do it correctly):
production_glass.txt: replaces wood for an equal amount of potash.
production_pottery.txt: replaces wood for an equal amount of potash.
production_cloth.txt: adds potash as an ingredient for textile production.

If by any chance some other mod you use overwrites these files as well, let that mod overwrite this one and then the worst thing that’ll happen to you is that you just won’t get these additions. It won’t break anything major.

This mod changes the checksum and is intended to be used with a fresh save. Trade Goods may require a few months in-game to balance out due to the limited vanilla changes.

Just Trade Goods

Just Trade Goods is a series of modular mods that aims to expand the Europa Universalis 5 trade goods system as much as it can by pulling apart the vanilla abstractions, while at the same time overwriting as few vanilla files as possible in the process. You can add as many or as few of them as you want, in any combination, to your game.
