THIS IS A FICTIONAL FACTION! YES I AM AWARE THAT THE BRITS DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE VIETNAM WAR.

It’s 1965, in an alternate reality, British PM Harold Wilson has accepted LBJ’s request for British troops to sure up the Free World Forces coalition in Vietnam!

This is a small infantry config faction made using SOG Prairie Fire DLC, SOG Nckel Steel, Laffin’ Lizard, Spearhead CDLC, SPEX and S&S assets. I have tried to base the faction addon on period research. In particular i have used several Osprey Miltary books depicting British Army units from the Kenyan Emergency, Malayan Emergency and Indonesian Confrontation of the 1950s & 1960s. However i have added certain ‘fantasy’ elements to make use of some of the cool gear available in these mods and CDLCs!

I used ALIVE’s ORBAT creator to make the factions so you cannot override the units’ loadouts unlesss you have ALIVE loaded. I don’t know how to get around this i’m afraid despite the fact that i have tried but just cannot understand coding that well. You can still add items and change gear once the mission starts through Arsenal/boxes etc.

You’ll find the following groups in the mod under ‘British Army – Vietnam War’:

Infantry
Several different groups including but not limited to; Sniper and explosive teams, platoons and infantry sections in both light (no backpacks) and full configurations and various special forces teams

– British Army (1966) in Jungle Greens with floppy hats and mostly British gear
– British Army (1969) in Jungle Greens with the ‘Turtle’ Mk3 helmet and some US weaponry creeping in (which the British DID actually use IRL)
– British Army (1971) in DPM camouflage, Mk3 helmets, more US weaponry creeping in (including some the Brits never used such as the M60)

Special Forces
– SAS (1966) in Jungle Greens and mostly British gear, camo faces
– SAS (1968) in a mixture of DPM and brushstroke gear, camo faces

Other
– Local Guides (Montagnard interpreters and scouts)

– Westland Wessex Helicopters (British Army CAS variants, RAF and Royal Navy variants)

– Artillery (105mm pack howitzers and mortars crewed by British artillerymen)

– Crewmen (pilots, artillery gunners, drivers etc)

– RAF Harvard Mk3 (this is actually a French Skyraider but please, once again, suspend your disbelief)
– RAF F-4 Phantom II
– Royal Navy F-4 Phantom II

– Unarmed units (for artwork or immersion)
