Debts and Loans
Have you ever had too little money and felt tempted to cheat? Have you ever had way more than you knew what to do with?
Debts and Loans introduces a fully fledged loan mechanic based on character interactions and story cycles! Any character* can borrow as much money as they can from up to 12 other characters!
Become your own bank by loaning to as many characters as you want, or establish a credit reputation as a good debtor and take debt at cheap interest rates! Or both!
*Except theocratic, republic, nomad or laamp characters, for balance concerns (the first two straight up don’t get heirs for now, probably will change with the dlcs though)
- Completely new loan mechanic, allowing debts and loans to be inherited and complete freedom on who to borrow from or loan to!
- Two new character interactions, Ask for Loans and Offer Loans
- Two new story cycles, one for managing all your debt and one for managing all your loans
- Bankruptcy event chain for characters who fall too low on their credit score
There are 12 identical story cycles, one for each of your loaners:
Once you get a loan, this story is created but stays invisible. It serves to keep track of who is the loaner and how much they have loaned to you. You can ask them for repeat loans as much as you want!
The front-facing story cycles are no less important:
The credit story cycle manages all your debt, showing all your loaners, how much interest you have to pay each year, your credit score and your repayment history score.
The loaner story cycle manages all your loans and debtors. It is essential to keep the invisible debt stories updated with who is the loaner, in case the previous one dies.
Really I just want to thank n8 for helping me test this mod! His help was essential in getting this out.
This mod should be compatible with basically every mod out there. Of course it has no restrictions for, say, loaning from Sauron in Realms in Exile. So use it at your own discretion. But nothing should break, as I haven’t changed any vanilla files at all.
If anyone wants to contribute translations or images, I’d be open to it. I won’t be doing either on my own.
I do welcome feedback, but keep in mind that my intention is to keep this as compatible as possible. So that does limit the amount of things I can do (I’m not integrating the vanilla loan mechanic into this, for example).
I very much would like bug reports. If you find any dead loaner or debtor, I want to hear about it.
