Bandits and Chests Drop Equips Rarely Plus More Loot
Update note: Added Halmayan Drops from Halmayan chars. Haven’t goten around to Cassian or other stuff yet. I haven’t even made it that far in the game so probably last update for a bit.
MAKE SURE TO LEAVE FEEDBACK AND REVIEW!! 😀
This mod rewards a playstyle where you take your villagers out and hunt bandits down with them, maybe losing one or two in the process. The reward is greater, so it feels very earned. I got tired of kiting bandits and brigands with a bow, and I like equipping and training my villager army to fight with me. If you agree, this is the mod for you.
This is my first mod ever, so be nice. I don’t craft a ton of armor or equips in game and this is to help supplement that. It is not a replacement for smithing and equipping your villagers, but helps ease the burden and actually rewards you for clearing camps and killing bandits and brigands. I got tired of taking out 4-8 bandits and getting some books and 3 hide and 200 gold. I wanted a chance to score some equips (rarely). This solves that. Almost every camp you loot will give you at least one or two equips. More if you are the lucky type. They are relative to the enemy levels and size of the camp you kill so it shouldn’t unbalance your game.
Only drops player obtainable equips, not bandit gear. I would imagine bandit gear isn’t meant to be equipped by the player and so it’s probably missing certain elements like icons and so forth. Also, I read from other mod reviews that a lot of that equipment is junk.
Idk what will happen with multiplayer, but it’ll prolly be fine. If it doesn’t work, just disable it, I guess. I probably wouldn’t fix something like that, anyway.
All coins and items from the normal loot table have been increased to useful amounts. Bandits drop what I think their gold amounts would roughly be, 40-90ish for tier 1, 120-200ish for tier 2 and so forth, if they’re carrying any at all. Might be ridiculous to have anyone carrying 100+ gold pieces, but it’s meant to represent their accrued net worth as a bandit. Maybe I’ll do random bandit stashes later in the game, because that makes way more sense than a bandit carrying 200 gold pieces to go ambush someone.
I added mats and tools to the loot tables so you can score almost everything you need for your village to flourish from engaging in combat, although it is not meant to be a replacement for good management, just a supplement.
I haven’t really used gold too much in this game and that’s a shame. There’s a lot of potential for economy, which is super important in a game like this, so maybe I’ll look into mods for that later.
Equip Drop Rates
I was looking for a equip drop rate mod, but it seems like the ones I saw are out of date or rate is way too high. I will probably only update this mod as long as I play the game. But the game is very moddable so that might be a while.
From what I saw reading other mods, 25% is way too high and produces junk, so I thought below droprates were reasonable and at a good pace to equip my current villagers. I also love the idea of rare and super rare drops so I incorporated that. More details below on rates.
This mod only applies to bandits/brigands/chests on the (main island, I think? Idk, haven’t gotten too far in the game yet) and only for what I believe is random bandit camps and encounters, maybe raids. Also, brigands. Any special-type quest or off-brand bandits and brigands are off the table. This is meant to be a quick, lightweight mod to boost the enjoyment of my own game.
Bandits and brigands have a rare (less than 5% chance) to drop something from their tier equip.
They have a super rare chance to drop something from the next tier equip. I may or may not have enabled ultra rare drops that are higher tier too.
Each time you trigger a drop, there is a 25% chance to trigger a second drop (armor or weapon, separately).
25% double chance still applies.
Each group has one "leader" unit. Each "leader" has doubled drop rates for all of the above except for the 25% double chance, which remains the same.
All of these enemies pull from similar pools of what I think is player craftable gear, so no bandit equipment drops. There’s too much work involved in trying to get icons and stuff to look for bandit gear that the player was never supposed to be able to equip.
Chests:
Chests should be exciting and so I added more loot to chests and lootable containers, at least in camps. They have a much higher drop rate for weapons, tools, mats and equips, as they should. It was zero, before, I think. You should be able to find at least one or two equips that may be useful as an upgrade to your villagers.
Loot quality is based on camp size. Each camp has relative chance for equips on each tier. Larger drop tables available for big and medium camps, with drop rates relative to camp size. Small camps are limited to Tier 0 and rarely Tier 1 equips.
