Moss Crabs – Symbiosis Patch
Moss Crabs for The Swamp by modder Huerta is a wonderful creature mod that adds just a bit more life and character to the swamp. It is functionally perfect as is, but my wildlife overhaul mod Symbiosis changes quite a bit which upsets the balance the original mod aimed to achieve. This patch aims to rectify that and give the Moss Crabs a few light touches to reflect the changes I made to vanilla crabs and herbivores in game, plus a slight expansion of their range south.
Coexistance with raptor species and Blood Spiders has been restored (my rework to animal factions would have them fighting otherwise when they were meant to coexist in the original mod). They have the same highest possible bleed resist as regular crabs and the same cyan blood color. Because of their primarily herbivorous identity I gave them a similar low hunger rate to goats, to represent passive grazing and scavenging offsetting the need for fresh food, plus it’s a bit lower still to complement their percieved status as ectotherms like most arthropods IRL. They also occassionally occur in the Wetlands at a reduced rate, or in smaller squads, and very rarely the smallest groups can be found wandering in the Hook, were they replace the rare crab spawns I added there by the main Symbiosis mod. Also because of their smaller size relative to normal crabs, they may enter buildings, though they may have difficulty navigating within. Lastly, I added a bit of lore fluff to the name and description of the hemp that grows on the wild crabs back (their backpacks).
That’s it. Again, Moss Crabs is very tightly designed creature mod, and this mod mainly exists to fix things that Symbiosis would otherwise break or imbalance when using it. Hence the changes here being quite minor.
