Scenario for Preventing a Chinese Amphibious Landing at the Vietnamese Port of Cam Ranh
China is planning an amphibious landing at Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam. However, due to a miscalculation in intelligence estimates regarding the timing of this landing, the USSR is unable to deploy its naval forces in time for a timely intercept and the probable destruction of the Chinese landing group. Intelligence regarding the approach of a large enemy naval group was received only two hours ago. All Soviet naval forces in the region are being urgently dispatched for interception.
You are in command of the ASW(BPK) ships Smyshlenyy and A.Isachenkov — the only vessels in the region capable of conducting an effective counter-operation — as well as a Vietnamese patrol group. The opposing force consists of Chinese strike and amphibious formations. Despite the enemy’s numerical superiority, our ships significantly outrange the Chinese in terms of weapon engagement range.
Your primary objective is to destroy the Chinese amphibious ships while preserving our main naval strike force.
