A few years ago, I made the original Winter Edition. And uh… that thing weighed way too much and was generally a bit janky.
So, in a matter of a day, I remade pretty much the entire mod from scratch.
Like the previous mod, this only changes numerous environmental textures, sounds and one model throughout the game to fit winter aesthetics. Everything else (maps, etc.) remains the same.
Possible issues:
– Some materials can’t be replaced because they are packed into some maps’ files, so they only have their textures replaced and not material properties
Credits:
Breadman (Entropy: Zero) – snow blend texture and mountain texture
Valve – original snow assets
Me – finally figuring out how VMTs work
Fun fact: the resulting filesize is half of the old version (also uploaded on the workshop)
