More Useful Preserve
Modify the Preserve district and its buildings to make them easier to manage.
Supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.
The Chinese translation was created by ChatGPT.
I recommend Leugi’s Unique District Icons for the more common motif Preserve district icon.
The concept for this MOD was inspired by Leugi’s Preserve Rework, and I acknowledge that some code references were borrowed.
This mod is not explicitly compatible with other mods that modify the Preserve.
These changes are not intended to make the Preserve stronger, but rather to improve its usability.
In principle, the original bonuses are not expanded; instead, the modifications reduce disadvantages caused by opportunity costs.
Whether adjacent to water or mountains, or improved, small bonuses are still provided.
Since yield porn does not come with sufficient production until the late game and is not as strong as it looks, no nerfs have been introduced.
With this mod enabled, all civilizations can place citizens to mountain tiles.
The original concept was to make only the tiles adjacent to a Preserve workable, but due to the limitations of modifiers, it was implemented this way.
This may slightly strengthen abilities related to appeal, such as Bull Moose Teddy’s, but since no base yields have been set for the tiles, the impact should be limited.
As for the Inca civilization’s advantage, it is not necessary to keep it exclusive to them.
This mod should not conflict with other mods that expand the use of mountain tiles.
Preserve Adjustments
- Retains original abilities (housing based on appeal, culture bomb, +1 appeal to adjacent tiles)
- Trade bonus: +1 Food for domestic routes, +1 Faith for international routes
- District discount applies, contributes to city defense strength
- Can be built without removing features
- After advancing to the Conservation Civic, provides Tourism equal to tile appeal
Grove bonuses to adjacent tiles
- Grants +1 Food and +1 Faith to adjacent Charming or better tiles, or coastal tiles.
- Increased to +2 Food, +2 Faith, +2 Culture for adjacent unimproved Breathtaking tiles, or unimproved water tiles with coastal feature.
Sanctuary bonuses to adjacent tiles
- Grants +1 Science and +1 Gold to adjacent Charming or better tiles, or coastal tiles.
- Increased to +2 Science, +2 Gold, +2 Production for adjacent unimproved Breathtaking tiles, or unimproved water tiles with coastal feature.
all civilizations can place citizens to mountain tiles.
Changed the inspiration: Conservation is boosted when you have a Preserve district with Breathtaking Appeal (Grand Eras mod overrides this).
Changed the policy: Renamed Public Transport to Public Welfare. Aqueduct, Dam, Canal, and Preserve districts are now included in the bonus eligibility.
