Description:

Specifically, it randomly suggests names of bands, solo musicians, and singers from around the world from the mid-20th century onward. I created this mod hoping to alleviate some of the pain associated with rock bands, which are notoriously unpopular units in the game. Naturally, this mod does not make units stronger or change their abilities.

Additional Information

• This MOD also applies to rock bands of civilizations other than the player’s. Therefore, rock bands with the same name may appear in other factions.
• To prevent unexpected errors, this MOD has "Affect save data" set to "Yes". You cannot change game data in the save data, or the names of rock bands that have already been changed. Please enable the MOD at the start of the game.
• The function to manually enter rock band names can be used without being affected even if this MOD is enabled. Please use it with confidence.
• Since this is a rock band MOD, the Gathering Storm expansion pack is required.

The selection criteria for the rock band names that appear are:

• Famous. High recognition is a prerequisite, but since Civ6 is a game where you can choose from various civilizations around the world, rock bands, solo musicians, and singers from various genres, regions, and eras will appear, not just Western pop and rock. Therefore, many great musicians from eras before you were born or from musical genres you are not very familiar with will appear.
• Not overlapping with existing great musicians in Civ6. It would be a bit unsettling if there were multiple identical people in the world, wouldn’t it? As mentioned in the "Caution!" below, this is a measure to avoid name duplication as much as possible.
• The creator’s personal preference and bias. The creator is getting on in years (lol), so is not familiar with the recent music scene, and the musicians that appear will mostly be from the 60s to the 2000s. Also, rock bands from the creator’s home country are among the suggested candidates, but the probability is small, less than 5% of the total number of candidates.

Requests for rock bands, solo musicians, and singers to include in the mod are welcome. Requests for musicians from non-English speaking countries, or from the home countries of the in-game civilizations, are especially welcome. However, please don’t expect a quick response.

Using mods that add great musicians in the Great People mod category may result in name overlap with the randomly suggested candidates in this mod. Since they are different types of units, this will not affect gameplay, but if you find the overlap jarring, we recommend using a different name for the rock band.
Please note that some of the suggested rock band names include individuals who are both members of rock bands and solo musicians. (Example: Phil Collins = member of Genesis, etc.)
Also, please be aware that some famous rock bands, solo musicians, and singers are not included as suggested candidates in this mod due to their relationship with mods we plan to create in the future.

However, since I’m not an English speaker, I can’t provide detailed explanations in English. Please understand that support in languages ​​other than Japanese is difficult and time-consuming, as it will be handled through machine translation. I’m completely self-taught when it comes to mod development, so please contact me with any bug reports, improvement ideas, or advice.

In the game, it’s referred to as a "rock band," but the randomly suggested candidates in this mod also include solo musicians and singers. If I were to stick to the term "rock band," it would be correct not to include these as candidates, but my understanding of a rock band in the game is that it’s a general term for "a unit that captivates people with music." So I included solo musicians and singers as suggested candidates. There are limits, but the more candidates there are, the better, and whether they are solo or in a band/group, it doesn’t matter when it comes to famous and talented musicians.
