ATPC (Advanced Third Person Camera) is a complete overhaul mod dedicated to elevating Arma 3’s third-person experience to the standard of modern hardcore tactical shooters. This mod completely replaces the rigid vanilla third-person camera, bringing you an incredibly smooth over-the-shoulder perspective, dynamic aiming transitions, and a highly customizable tactical laser and HUD system.

(Note: The code refactoring and logic optimization of this mod were assisted by AI, incorporating extensive polishing of the underlying engine limitations.)

  • Completely Overhauled Over-The-Shoulder View: Takes full control of the vanilla camera, providing highly smooth camera tracking and anti-shake interpolation, perfectly adapting to all tactical movements.
  • Seamless Shoulder Swapping: Supports both Single Key Toggle (Middle Mouse Button) and Independent Key Lock (Q/E) simultaneously. Get the best tactical angle whether you are clearing rooms or peeking from cover.
  • Smart ADS Interception & Firing Simulation:
    – Hold Right Mouse Button (RMB) to smoothly zoom in, or click RMB to instantly snap into first-person ADS (Gunner view).
    Animation Anti-Lock System: Intelligently blocks ADS commands during reloading, evasive moves (Meva), swimming, climbing, or vaulting to prevent the camera from getting stuck or clipping through meshes.
    Perfect Fire Mode Compatibility: Deeply optimized for third-party weapon mods. Full-Auto mode fires seamlessly, while Single/Burst modes perform precise single physical interruptions, completely eliminating the "auto-spray" bug on semi-auto rifles.
  • Dual-Mode Tactical Laser System: Offers two completely independent laser rendering engines to choose from in the settings:
    Scripted Mode (More Features): 3D physical beam + anti-culling 2D screen projected dot. Supports 5 different dot textures (cross, vanilla throw ring, etc.), ignores terrain distortion, and includes extreme dynamic throttle optimization.
    Engine Native Mode (Lower Performance Cost): Utilizes the engine’s underlying drawLaser algorithm for near-zero processing overhead. Features the most native HDR bloom and perfect NVG Infrared compatibility.
  • Modern Tactical HUD & Dynamic Crosshairs: Provides customized UI including ammo, health, stance, and zeroing while in the over-the-shoulder view, complete with various highly adjustable professional screen crosshairs.

💡 Recommendations

For the best and smoothest operational experience, it is highly recommended to rebind your "Toggle First/Third Person" key to "Tab" in the game’s control settings. This makes it incredibly convenient to switch perspectives back and forth depending on the engagement distance.

⚠️ Limitations

Due to the limitations of the Arma 3 underlying engine, while in this scripted advanced third-person camera state, certain vanilla interactions (like the scroll-wheel action menu) and some native screen UI displays will be limited/hidden.
When you need to perform complex environmental interactions (such as looting, opening doors, entering vehicles) or require precise shooting, please press Tab to switch back to first-person, or click RMB to enter the ADS view for normal interaction.
