Coming from Touhou 11 – Hell’s favorite Tsuchigumo has crawled her way out of the underground to see what all the commotion on the surface is! Seeing all these new and strange youkai fighting, the strongest spider of all just has to get her hands dirty!

Overview

Yamame is a very slow and curious character with larges normals and various tools. With the use of her Webs and Disease, she can quickly turn the tables on opponents who fall prey to her foul spells.

Tsuchiumo Disease!

Many of Yamame’s moves inflict the opponent with her powerful illness. After a very long time, the opponent will take an extra 15% damage. Hitting the opponent with more diseased attacks shortens their timer more and more. If a diseased opponent hits or parries Yamame, they will be cured instantly.

Neutral Special – Filled Miasma

Yamame takes in air around her and rapidly converts it into more foul and putrid gas. Powerful enough to knock down even the sturdiest youkai. As soon as she releases the button, she will spit out a long lasting slow moving and weak projectile. This move can be charged by holding special and stored by shielding.

Yamame has three levels of NSpecial charge, which add more projectiles above and below to her spray and strengthens the power of a point blank hit. Stored NSpecial levels can also be consumed by holding special during FSpecial and DSpecial to enhance said moves.

Forward Special – Capture Web

Yamame chucks an angleable short ranged bouncing web blob at the opponent. Upon hit or after travelling a short distance, the web will open and become interactable

Webs can be interacted with in multiple ways. All players can jump off them without consuming their double jump as long as they are not in pratfall, and being launched into one causes it to grab the victim before throwing them back from where they were launched from. Yamame herself can hold onto said webs by holding jump (or quick cling by holding down and jumping near a web). Releasing jump has Yamame leap in any direction while becoming fully actionable, she can also press Special while clinging to do a bouncing roll attack that’s quite powerful during the initial launch.

Hitting Web with Dash Attack or DStrong will allow Yamame to bounce off her web and extend her range and change direction of said moves.

Yamame can also infect her Web with her Disease to turn it into a Venom Web. Venom Webs will infect opponents with Disease on contact and do extra damage to already infected opponents.

Webs have three health, which decreases each time its interacted with in any way. FSpecial goes on a short cooldown after the Web is created. Web will be immediately destroyed if an opponent is galaxied into it, Yamame dies, or get parried.

If NSpecial is half charged, Yamame’s web will automatically be a Venom Web when thrown. At full NSpecial charge, The Web will also explode with miasma upon creation, dealing more damage and knockback.

Up Special – Kandata’s Rope

Yamame will sling a thread of silk that travels straight up. If the tip of the strand hits an opponent or web, Yamame will pull herself in and ram into them. If the rope reaches past the top blastzone without grabbing anything, Yamame will be pulled far upwards instead.

Yamame is fully actionable while the thread is rising and being pulled, and the pull itself can cancel most grounded normals Yamame is currently doing (besides Dash Attack and DStrong, which continue even when pulled). Yamame can only do one input while being pulled before she goes into pratfall. If Yamame hits a character or is hit herself, the thread will snap and not put Yamame into pratfall, even if she already got pulled upwards by the rope. Yamame can also airdodge while being pulled up to cancel the pratfall and get another use of USpecial.

If Yamame is still holding USpecial by the time the rope should pull her, Yamame will yank the rope down instead, pulling down one of six random objects down from the sky straight down as an active hitbox. The yank itself is a melee hit with a spiking sweet spot, and will pull her slightly upwards. The yank will put her in pratfall if used in midair. Most of these items can be grabbed with DSpecial or bounced on Webs to give them a horizontal arc.

Rope Pull Objects

Skull – Small and weak, but uncommon
Boulder – Decent size and strength
Kisume – Spikes opponents, sends upwards and flash stuns when thrown.
Fumo – 1% damage but high hitstun. Slow, high arc when thrown. Diseased
Mega Flare – Large and slow explosive, sends outwards. Destroys webs and cannot be grabbed with DSpecial, but can be bounced off of with Dash Attack. Can hurt Yamame
Yuugi – Huge, deadly spike that buries. Causes a shockwave that hits all grounded opponents on landing. Destroys Web on contact but can be thrown with DSpecial as a devastating projectile. Can also hit Yamame.

Down Special – Japanese Foliage Spider / Unsanitary Rain

Yamame will lunge forward and attempt to grab ahead of her. Yamame can grab opponents, rope pull objects, and if she holds DSpecial, even her own web. Players will be thrown at a harsh angle downwards. Objects will be thrown ahead of Yamame at a varying arc depending on the item. Throwing web will turn it into a fast multihitting drill that ends in a decently strong hit, respawning the web at its full health. Throwing the Web will also keep its state if its currently a Venom Web.

If in midair, Yamame can hold down to fall faster and will partially extend her lunge timer on landing. If Yamame hits a ledge during grounded DSpecial, she will rip a boulder out of the ground and chuck that similarly to an Rope Pull Boulder.

With half charged NSpecial, Yamame will lunge further while producing slow arching orbs of Disease. Throwing opponents and Webs will also infect them with Disease. At full charge, Yamame will lunge much farther and produce twice as many orbs, cause thrown webs to make miasma explosions on hit. If Yamame grabs an opponent during a fully charged DSpecial, she will bite the opponent with infectious fangs and immense power, any Diseased opponents will have their Disease meters immediately filled.

If DSpecial whiffs while Yamame is in midair, she will go into pratfall.

Other Quirks

– Yamame’s double jump has her flap her arms twice to gain height, the second flap can be delayed by holding down the jump button.
– Yamame’s can move left or right during DStrong, and can walljump on whiff. DStrong can also be forced to faceplant by holding the attack button.
– Holding special during the web cling roll attack will allow Yamame to bounce on the ground repeatedly until she runs out of momentum, but makes the attack weaker
– Dash Attack is projectile immune while the hitbox is active
– Yamame can move left and right during Down Taunt.
