[WOTC] Battlefield 3 – Russian Uniforms
"As Vladimir would say, you can only die once. Make sure it is worth it."– Dimitri ‘Dima’ Mayakovsky
This mod adds a custom head and relies on custom shaders to work properly – you MUST have X2WOTCCommunityHighlander installed when using mods with custom heads/shaders!
UCR isn’t an essential requirement, but if you want to use the gear on faction soldiers then you’ll need to have it enabled, as I did not include config entries for hero units (reapers, templars, etc.)
This armor mod adds the outfits (and a custom head) of the Russian Spetsnaz faction from the multiplayer mode in Battlefield 3 to your XCOM 2 campaign.
The gear options provided include:
- 41 Helmets (18 default, 23 tinted)
- 13 Upper Face Props
- 13 Lower Face Props
- 12 Torsos (6 default, 6 tinted)
- 16 Torso Gears (8 default, 8 tinted)
- 8 Arms (9 default, 5 tinted)
- 8 Legs (10 default, 5 tinted)
- 12 Thigh Gears (6 default, 6 tinted)
**These cosmetics are male only.**
Well, this is a mod I’ve been wanting to make for a good many years now, and here it is – on the 250th Anniversary of the USA. Now, you may be thinking "why the hell are you releasing a Russian-themed mod on such an important day in American history?" And to this, I must say — in the words of Alex Jones — “I’m kinda retarded.” I vastly over-estimated my own abilities when planning this mod. I had intended to release the Russians back in June and have the US cosmetics ready by the 4th of July, but alas, these models were an absolute NIGHTMARE to work with, and took me way longer than expected to finish. So yes, I fumbled the play – apologies for the missed opportunity.
Aside from all that, I’m very happy with the way these guys turned out. BF3’s multiplayer is the greatest gaming experience I ever got to have growing up, and I always wanted to play on the Russian side because of their badass kits. Thankfully they look just as good in XCOM as I remember them looking on the PS3. I went a little overboard in the customization department, so I’m sorry for the armory bloat. Ultimately when it comes to gear modification options I say ‘the more the merrier.’
One last thing to note, I must also apologize for the large file size. Tried to minimize it as much as possible by cooking it down from 431 MB, but 103 MB is the best I could do.
Anyway, that’s all for now. It’s 4:19 AM and I have to attend a local 4th of July parade at 10 in the morning out in the barren NC countryside. God help me.
Be well, have fun, and may the Lord Jesus bless you with happiness and good health. Love you all, and have a Happy 4th of July.
– DICE & Electronic Arts for making the models.
– [WotC] Call of Duty: Black Ops III :: Master Weapon Collection, Resistance Firearms, and [WotC] Call of Duty: MODERN WARFARE (2019) :: Standard Weapon Collection for the weapons used in the preview shots.
