Description:
Camera Scroll Fix

Loads pre-rendered full-room renders for SBCameraScroll to avoid misalignments between camera screens.

Since rooms rely on a static camera to create the illusion of a 3D background, camera scrolling ruins that depth perception, and this mod does not fix that. It is therefore strongly recommended to also use the Parallax mod, which adds depth back to the game and enhances the 3D backgrounds.

Known limitations

  • Some DLC rooms might have major missing background props (e.g. Metropolis dome or its final room, or Rivulet’s final water room), because not all props are available for re-rendering. Some vanilla levels might have minor missing foreground props (like poles): the geometry is still there, but visually you’ll be climbing in the air. This is due to outdated project files, but these are the only ones available, sadly.
  • If you think a level is missing something and looks bad, you can just delete its _flat.png file and CameraScroll will fall back to the default camera stitching, potentially with misalignments, but with no missing props.
  • Modded regions are not affected by this mod. To get the same effect, region creators would have to re-render their levels as well. The modified Drizzle I used for the re-rendering is available here[github.com].
  • The mod includes fixed copies of all levels from Vanilla, Downpour, and the Watcher, so it weighs a lot: about as much as those levels combined (actually roughly half, since single-screen rooms don’t need fixing and aren’t included).

Credits

Huge thanks to TheLazyCowboy1 for the Parallax mod, for inspiring me to make a proper fix for SBCameraScroll, and for helping all the way through hacking Drizzle. Thanks also to SchuhBaum for SBCameraScroll.
