The Burma Campaign was an offensive campaign against the Japanese Burmese Front in northern Burma and western Yunnan Province by the Chinese Army in India and the Chinese Expeditionary Force in coordination with the United States and the British Army. From October 1943 to March 1945, the Chinese Army in India and the Chinese Expeditionary Force recovered more than 50 towns and cities in northern Myanmar and 83,000 square kilometers of lost land in western Yunnan, and wiped out more than 49,000 Japanese troops in their counterattacks in northern Myanmar and western Yunnan. The Southwest China International transportation line has been opened. The Chinese military has also made heavy sacrifices, with about 67,000 casualties.
