About The Mod

This mod is a smaller standalone version of my Legion Auxilia Mod which adds the Praefectus Castrorum and his camp officer staff to the Senator class, who can be placed in Outposts to strengthen their fortifications as well as provide extra abilities to affect the surrounding area. This version of the mod removes all of the Auxiliary related content, as some players may not prefer to play with how radically they can alter the Senator’s playstyle but still be interested in using the Outpost Garrison portion of the mod, or people who want to play using a different Senator mod that doesn’t mesh well with the Auxiliaries but still want to add the Outpost Garrison into the mix. The Praefectus is relatively inobtrusive and for the most part just makes it somewhat easier for the Senator to establish a more lasting presence in densely settled areas.

!!! NOTE: This is a variant mod of the Legion Auxilia mod – while they can theoretically be used together there is simply no reason to ever do so – for a more pleasant experience do not use the two mods together. !!!

Differences Between This Mod and Legion Auxilia

– The Auxiliary Centurion has been replaced with the Castra Centurion, who can still construct additional Outposts.

– The Senator himself can now also construct Outposts.

– The gold and iron cost of constructing new Outposts has been decreased to 55 Gold and 25 Iron, to account for the absence of the economic impact of the Auxiliaries. Additionally the requirement to have 80 Legionary Units present to cast the ritual has been lowered to 40.

– While not a difference with Legion Auxilia, this mod also includes a change to the base game Centurion/Leo giving them Leadership 1 and Armytrainer 1.

Legionary Officers

Praefectus Castrorum
The Praefectus is the officer in charge of the Camp/Fortress and directs all of its related efforts. He will slowly over time assemble his own camp staff officers detailed below, he may also more manually force them to spawn by using the ‘Outpost Garrison’ ritual. He also has several other rituals available to him which require certain officers to be present in the Outpost to cast.

Tesserarius – Watch Commander
The Tesserarius is responsible for the nightly watch and general security of the Outpost as well as drilling the men in their daily training, he will spawn a number of additional Stationarius legionaries to defend the Outpost as well as slowly spawning Veles in the same manner Watch/Guard Towers do.

Optio – Patrol Commander
The camp’s Optio is tasked with leading the patrol forces to safeguard the nearby area. The Optio functions similarly to a Vassal Knight and will attempt to take ownership of any Human Settlements in the nearby area. Unlike the other Officers the Optio will never spawn on his own and must be summoned by the player via ritual, his summoning requires both the Tesserarius and Armicustos to be present in the Outpost.

Armicustos – Camp Quartermaster
The Armicustos is in charge of all of the logistical workings of the camp, everything from food, supplies, weapons and paying the soldiers their wages. The Armicustos enables the Praefectus to station Limitane Garrisons in nearby human settlements. Additionally he will double the amount of gold the Outpost produces from 2 to 4.

Praefectus Fabrum – Siege Master
The Fabrum is the chief engineering officer of the legion and is responsible for constructing all fortifications and siege equipment. He will slowly over time craft additional stationary defenses for the Outpost including Burning Oil, extra Ballistas and a Double Reinforced Gate. He also enables the Praefectus Castrorum to create Scorpios – light artillery ballistas which are more mobile and possess a faster rate of fire than normal Ballistas.

Medicus Cohortis – Chief Medical Officer
The Medicus Cohortis is in charge of all of the legion’s Medici, and will summon his own small staff of Medicus Vulnerarius and Medicus Morbus to aid him in treating the legion’s ailments. The Medici are skilled in healing Diseased units as well as removing more mundane afflictions like festering wounds/never healing wounds/chest wounds/debilitating wounds. They cannot however mend things like missing eyes or feebleminded.

Augur – Farseer
The Outpost comes with its own dedicated Augur who can scry lands nearby the Outpost, helping you keep an eye on your enemy’s actions from a safe distance.

Mod Compatibility

The mod should be compatible with pretty much any other mod, as it alters very little of the base game.

If there is a compatibility issue it is probably related to conflicting numbers being used, if that is the case simply find the conflicting numbers and alter them in the c5m of this or the other mod. The following are the relevant numbers used in the mod:
