Stop hand-watering your crops. Build a pipe network, hook it up to your rain collectors, and let it water your farm automatically — drawing from the barrels you already have.
A clean, Build 42 take on the classic irrigation pipes, rebuilt from the ground up. Singleplayer & Multiplayer — works in co-op and on dedicated servers.
Craft Irrigation Pipes from a metal pipe, a hammer and a screwdriver (4 pipes per craft).
Place pipes on the ground — right-click a tile, pick a shape (line, cross, corner, T) and drop it with the placement cursor. Pipes lay on bare ground and on built floors.
Connect them into a network — pipes link to each other and to adjacent rain collectors. Each connected network is detected automatically.
Crops get watered automatically — every cycle, pipes water the farming plots within their radius using water from the barrels in the same network. Smart Pipes fill each plant up to its optimal level, then stop (no waste).
Shared water pool — barrels connected in the same network share and balance their water: a full barrel and an empty one even out over time.
Fertilize your crops too — NEW in v1.2 — pour a bag of Fertilizer or Compost into a connected rain collector, and the network automatically fertilizes the crops it waters (one safe dose per plant — it never over-fertilizes or kills a crop). Compost is used first (renewable, reusable each season); fertilizer is kept as backup. Right-click a barrel to see its stored doses, or a crop to see if it’s Fertilized / Composted.
Right-click any pipe and choose Show Network to highlight every pipe (blue) and barrel (green) in that network, with a quick readout: number of pipes, number of barrels, and total water in the pool.
Irrigation Pipe — crafted from a Metal Pipe + Hammer + Screwdriver. One item; the shape (line / cross / corner / T) is chosen when you place it.
Enable Auto-Watering (on/off)
Watering Interval (1–60 in-game minutes, default 10)
Watering Radius (0–10 tiles; 0 = the pipe’s own tile)
Smart Pipes (fill to optimal vs fixed small amount)
Smart Pipes Max Fill (per cycle)
Shared Water Pool (on/off)
Enable Fertigation (on/off, default on)
Fertigation Quality (simulated Farming skill 0–10 — higher = better chance of a yield bonus)
Doses per Fertilizer/Compost bag (how many plants one poured bag fertilizes)
Project Zomboid Build 42. No other mods required. Works with vanilla rain collectors (not lakes, rivers, wells or blue barrels). Safe to add to an existing save — you’ll find the new items in areas you explore after installing. As with any mod, test on a spare save first; I’m not responsible for conflicts.

Thanks to aeoris2000 for giving me the idea to do this port to B42.
Built for Build 42 by Plysken, standing on the work of the original authors:
Original Drip Irrigation / Irrigation Pipes by TTR & Aragon — the mechanics this mod is based on.
Irrigation Pipes / Cluster Barrels — the Build 42 implementation whose code was adapted (placement, network, watering).
Irrigation Pipes FIX! by Si’rrakx — pipe sprites reused.
Huge thanks to all of them. If you’re one of the original authors and want a change to the credits, reach out on the Discord.
Created by Plysken for Build 42, based on the mods credited above. You’re welcome to reuse, port, translate or build on this mod — just keep a credit and, ideally, drop by the Discord so we can stay in touch. Built to be shared, not locked down.
The fertigation system (automatic fertilizing / composting through the pipes) is an original feature by Plysken, not part of the mods credited above.
