AGOT – Battlefield Duel +

Personal combat, unexpected challenges, sworn shields, and brutal consequences on the battlefields of Westeros.
TEMPORARY COMMUNITY TEST BUILD
This is an early public test build. The expanded battlefield scenes and Berserker content are complete, but I still have more planned before the full release.
If you try the mod, let me know what you think—and definitely tell me if something breaks.
AGOT Battlefield Duel + adds personal combat to battles in A Game of Thrones for Crusader Kings III.
When your character personally commands an army, you can hunt down enemy captains and commanders, be challenged unexpectedly, or let a loyal Bodyguard or Sworn Shield step forward in your place.
I originally started this as an expansion of Freeholder’s AGOT Battlefield Duel—hence the “+” in the name. I loved the original concept, but wanted to rebuild and expand it with more scenes, better reliability, Bodyguard support, Berserker content, and continued updates.
- Seek Combat on the Battlefield and personally challenge eligible enemy captains, knights, and commanders.
- Unexpected enemy challenges with adjustable frequency through the game rules.
- Bodyguards, Sworn Shields, and similar protectors who can step forward to defend their ward.
- Complete single-combat sequences with injury, death, escape, and capture all possible.
- Kill, spare, or attempt to capture a defeated opponent.
- Randomized scenes for Manual Seek, enemy challenges, refusals, Bodyguard outcomes, victories, defeats, and other battlefield moments.
- Protection for important war leaders and heirs whose death or capture could immediately decide a war.
- Optional 30-day duel cooldown, clear unavailable-reason tooltips, and safeguards for AGOT dragon warfare.
- A complete Berserker experience with unique challenges, Manual Seek scenes, forced personal combat, battlefield reactions, victory judgments, defeat scenes, and a signature bare-handed execution.
HOW TO SEEK COMBAT
- Personally command an army taking part in an active battle.
- Pause the game and right-click an eligible character fighting on the opposing side.
- Select Seek Combat on the Battlefield.
- Issue the challenge and live—or die—with the consequences.
SEEK COMBAT MAY BE UNAVAILABLE IF:
- You are not personally commanding the army.
- The target is not present or cannot be reached in the current battle.
- A battlefield duel is already underway.
- The target is a protected primary war leader or important heir.
- You or the target is still recovering from a recent battlefield duel.
- The target was recently defeated and spared.
- Your character is a dragonrider, or dragon warfare is currently being resolved.
Normal characters have choices. Berserkers generally do not.
A character with the Berserker Fame Trait cannot calmly refuse a challenge or hide behind a protector. They fight personally, and their battlefield-duel scenes reflect it.
- Unique challenge scenes with and without a Bodyguard present.
- Unique Manual Seek scenes describing the Berserker hunting an enemy through the battle.
- Trait-specific Stress, Natural Dread, Opinion, and witness reactions.
- Unique victory judgments and defeat scenes.
- A signature bare-handed skull-crushing execution with its own permanent death history.
AGOT Battlefield Duel + — Battlefield Duel Cooldown
Turns the optional 30-day recovery period on or off after your character personally fights a battlefield duel.
AGOT Battlefield Duel + — Unexpected Battlefield Challenges
Controls how often enemy combatants may unexpectedly challenge you during battle.
All frequency options remain available, including:
Guaranteed — Use With Caution
This option tries to generate an unexpected challenge during every eligible battle. It is mainly here for testing—or for anyone who wants a completely chaotic campaign.
Expect frequent duels, rapid character deaths, and thoroughly mangled campaign balance. Cooldowns, dragon warfare, and a lack of valid opponents can still prevent a challenge.
INSTALLATION
- Subscribe to the mod and allow Steam to finish downloading it.
- Enable AGOT Battlefield Duel + in the Paradox Launcher.
- Load it after A Game of Thrones and any required compatibility dependencies.
COMPATIBILITY
Designed for A Game of Thrones on CK3 1.19.x.
- Mods that replace the same battlefield-duel interactions, events, scripted effects, or single-combat files may conflict.
- Everyone in a multiplayer game should use the same version and load order.
- Multiplayer has not been independently tested. I have no friends. RIP.
STILL PLANNED
Ordinary defeat scenes(DONE), more trait-based button flavor, Bodyguard balance improvements, smarter challengers, and final release cleanup.

Have a suggestion? Put it in the Roadmap Discussion!
Found a bug? Please put that in the comments too!
Tell me what happened, which option you selected, and whether your character had a Bodyguard, the Berserker trait, or an active battlefield-duel cooldown. The more details you include, the easier it will be for me to track down the problem.
