🏰 Signoria of Florence

Create a new history for Florence in Crusader Kings III.
This mod offers a large-scale alternative campaign in which a small Tuscan state can become the greatest power in the Mediterranean. You will unite Italy, choose your own development path, revive ancient cultures, and create a new hegemony over the Western Mediterranean.

✨ Features

• Founding the Grand Duchy of Tuscany with a unique chain of decisions.
• Two alternative cultural development paths.
• New titles, decisions, modifiers, and events.
• Completely reworked progression for unifying Italy.
• The ability to create your own empire and restore the Western Roman Empire.

Important: Currently, the cultural branches are separated by start dates:
• The Etruria path is available before 1178.
• The Florence path is available starting from the 1178 start date.

This is a temporary technical limitation that will be removed in the future.

🏛️ The Florence Path

After adopting Florentine culture, a new unique development chain opens up.
Available decisions:
"Found the Signoria of Florence" — create a new state with unique borders and development.
"Support the Florentine Renaissance" — a decision inspired by the French Gothic era, which strengthens Tuscany’s largest cities with special modifiers.
• If you choose the title "The Magnificent" when founding the state, after some time a special event will become available that significantly accelerates development at the cost of gaining the "Cannibal" secret.
After founding the Signoria, new development stages open:
"Found the Italian Empire"
(the vanilla decision for unifying Italy is replaced with a custom chain).
Then the following become available:
• restoring the borders of the Western Roman Empire (based on the borders of the Theodosian era);
• the final decision — "Restore the Western Roman Empire", which unites the Western Mediterranean under a new hegemony.

🏺 The Etruria Path

For players starting the campaign before 1178, an alternative historical path is available.
After adopting Etruscan culture, the following become available:
"Revive the Etruscan Kingdom";
"Support the Etruscan Renaissance" — an analogue of the Florentine development branch;
• subsequent founding of your own Etruscan Empire.

⚖️ Additional Decisions

The mod also includes several economic decisions inspired by Roman mechanics:
• Revive the African Grain Dole;
• Revive the Moroccan Grain Dole.
These are an expanded alternative to the vanilla Egyptian Grain Dole and are focused on developing the region’s largest cities.

🚧 Development Plans

Work on the mod continues.
Planned for upcoming updates:
• expansion of event chains;
• new unique events for both cultural branches;
• more historical (and not-so-historical) decisions;
• improved compatibility and optimisation of existing mechanics.

Some experimental decisions (invasion of England and war with the Holy Roman Empire) have been temporarily removed while they are reworked.

📖 About the Project

Initially, this project began as a small mod that allowed you to play as a new Italian state, unite Italy, crush Byzantium, and survive the Mongol invasion.
Over time, the idea grew into a full-fledged mod, through which I am gradually learning the possibilities of Crusader Kings III modding and trying to create new mechanics, events, and alternative historical scenarios.
I continue to study mod creation — I won’t stop until I finish the project (or until a DLC comes out that breaks everything :D).

🎵 I Also Recommend

Restoration of the Kingdom of Galicia
Not recommended to use simultaneously with Restoration of the Kingdom of Galicia. Both mods modify the same decisions, so conflicts may occur. In the future, they are planned to be merged into one project.

Tierra de Nadie
An authentic music collection of medieval Iberia.
