Description:

April, 1968. US Navy SEALs, UDTs, and Vietnamese PRUs conduct a routine raid on suspected VC positions in the remote swamps of Lang Dan province.

AUTHOR’S NOTES
  • This is my sixth release for the S.O.G. Prairie Fire CDLC, returning to the theater to celebrate the release of lots of amazing content in the free Nickel Steel companion addon.
  • As with all my SOG:PF scenarios, in order to survive and complete the mission, you will need to think like the operators you’re playing as and apply the tactics developed by Navy SEALs in Vietnam. Read the briefing, review the attachments, and keep an eye on your map. Maintain stealth as often as possible, strike hard with every weapon at your disposal, then vanish quickly before reinforcements can arrive to respond.
  • This scenario was created in collaboration with Johnnyboy, author of the excellent SOG AI addon that offers an improved experience for single player.
  • INTENDED FOR SINGLEPLAYER, may work in co-op for up to 7 but no guarantees, NOT INTENDED FOR PUBLIC SERVER
  • This scenario and my editing hobby are inspired by accounts of real operations, in this particular case, the book SEALs UDT/SEAL Operations in Vietnam by T.L. Bosiljevac, as well as historical articles and research conducted online.
  • This is a work of fiction, any resemblance to real people, units, or events is purely coincidental. Some elements in this scenario are entirely fabricated and are intended purely for entertainment purposes.
  • The author and this mission is not affiliated with Savage Game Design.
  • This is a beta release, some bugs may exist. Also, it’s Arma, so there are bound to be things that will affect your playthrough. Reloading the mission can solve some issues. Please let me know if you run into any game-breaking bugs.
  • NOT RESPONSIBLE for any game-breaking bugs or issues playing with any addons in addition to the required ones listed here and I can’t be held responsible if things don’t work because of another modder’s addon. This scenario is not designed for use with ACE.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Insertion boats may occasionally get “Arma’ed” and collide or do other strange things, but nothing game-breaking. Restart if necessary.
  • In some cases, the player may get stuck under the boat and drown during insertion, ejecting from the boat before it comes to a stop likewise risks player death. Think of it as a reminder of the lethality of the missions the real guys regularly undertook. Just kidding, sorry this is an annoying quirk of the mission – restarting and/or ejecting as the boat slows ought to fix it, assuming you’re not running other addons.
  • Some players have reported an issue when assaulting the camp where the task does not update. This appears to be especially common when running the mission with SOG AI. Johnnyboy and I have investigated and tried to implement fixes, but are keeping an eye on it. If you run into this issue, try running it without SOG AI.
  • Use of the Revive script by PierreMGI together with Player Always Leads Group script can sometimes result in some rather annoying radio chatter. It typically goes away after a time, I don’t have the skill or time to tinker with a legacy script. Suggest ample use of Save and Revert if you plan to go loud.
  • Helicopter supply sequence is subject to some randomness and influenced by factors like incoming fire from random patrols, and sometimes the supplies get misdropped or the helicopter crashes. Restart or revert and this should not repeat. Use of other addons may also affect behavior.
