Empire Refactored: Specialists & Governors
A submod for Empire Refactored.
This mod allows you to send your pawns to Empire settlements, where they can passively boost those settlements as residents, specialists, or governors. Pawns that are assigned to settlements are removed from your control and added to your Empire faction — but never fear, for you can retrieve them at any time.
The bonuses a pawn provides depend on the role they are assigned.
- Governors provide a multiplicative resource bonus based on their skills and chosen resource focus.
- Specialists provide a flat additive resource bonus based on their skills — or, alternatively, a bonus to the settlement’s military defenses.
- Residents provide an additional 1 worker per 5 residents or so. (This role is meant to be a way for you to ‘keep’ pawns around without having to worry about them).
Assigning pawns to a settlement is as simple as sending them via a caravan.
This assignment isn’t completely free, however. Specialists and Governors cost silver to upkeep, and whenever a settlement loses a battle, there is a small chance that assigned pawns will die. This chance can be mitigated by assigning Commander Specialists; this special type of Specialist doesn’t provide resource bonuses, but each one will reduce the odds of other pawns dying after a failed defense, in addition to boosting the settlement’s defenses.
Governors, Specialists, and Residents are stored as world pawns (with the KeepForever flag, so the game won’t get rid of them). World pawns without ticking hediffs (e.g. wounds, sicknesses) eventually get mothballed, meaning that they only tick 4 times a day. So the overall performance impact should be minimal.
