Ringed Planets Mod – Vanilla Planets
Ever since I first started playing Starbound, I have always wished we had planets with ring systems, so I was patiently waiting until someone modded them in. But here we are today and, as you can see, we did it ourselves lol. This mod adds ringed planets for all the base game planet types. It’s built to be vanilla friendly, with it using the vanilla textures, biomes, etc. They are meant to be like a variation of the ringless planets, with most changes being cosmetic for people who want to build bases and such, with a ring spanning the horizon. We might add/update small features of the mod, but the changes are meant to be minimal and vanilla-friendly, like adding meteors to their weather. Our focus is to make addons for other planet mods in the future rather than huge updates here.
– Adds 17 new planets: ringed variants of all vanilla planet types.
– The ringed planets have the same spawn pools but spawn 1:2 with the ringless planets, making them less common than the base ones. (Moons spawn 1:3 due to how common they are in vanilla.)
– Terrestrials, horizons, etc. all have a ring added so you always know you’re on one.
– Includes both navigation and bookmark icons.
– They spawn with vanilla biomes just modified to have a custom background, so all dungeons that spawn on vanilla planets spawn here too.
– All ringed planets have meteor showers in their weather config. (0.02 Chance.)
– Includes Terraformers for all planet types, all craftable at the Terraforge. (Even the Ocean planets though you need to add the liquid manually.)
– This mod is NOT compatible with Allow Parallax Transitions , as the ring disappears when you enter a new biome, since its tied to the planet background. This is just a quirk of how the mod is built but you can use the Stubborn Ring Parallaxes Mod as a great workaround so the Ring won’t dissappear.
– Since this mod doesn’t mess with the vanilla planets and these are all new planet types (e.g. "ringed_garden" instead of just "garden"), mods that edit any vanilla planet files likely won’t work on the ringed ones without a compatibility patch.
– On an old universe save you’ll have to load new stars for them to generate.
– Uninstalling will cause the ringed planets to dissapear and break unless reinstalled. Like any other planet mod.
