Description:

After the Song court was defeated and driven from the Central Plain, the remaining Zhao clan crossed the sea eastward and, over the course of a century, built a new Imperial Song centered on Dongjing (the court-in-exile) in Jinshan — this timeline’s American West Coast. This nation is not simply a refuge for Song exiles, but a large empire that combines old Song court rites, maritime trade, frontier colonization, the legitimacy of the Mandate of Heaven, and a century of experience on the new continent.

Overview

  • New nation: Ming-Song
  • New culture: Ming-Song culture and Ming-Song Mandarin
  • New religion: Tianming (Mandate of Heaven), part of the Confucian religious group
  • Large-scale great-power start on the American West Coast
  • Custom subject types: Jiedushi, Kaikenshi, Duhufu
  • Custom government reforms, laws, bureaucracy, and estate privileges
  • A large amount of Chinese-language events covering the founding of Jinshan, colonization of the Americas, contact with the Taixi (Europeans), rediscovery of the old homeland, and the return to China
  • Custom innovations, buildings, units, icons, flags, event art, and localized place names

Design /h2]

The original idea was "Song-in-Australia" — an alternate history where the Song court fled to Australia after its defeat. But this would have prematurely involved the late-Yuan Red Turban Rebellion, diluting the feeling of "a group of companions who fled the Central Plain together." So the idea was changed, drawing on the well-known EU4 alternate-history mod Third Odyssey, and rebuilding the exiled Song state on the American West Coast instead.

Development and Testing Status

This mod was made with the help of Codex and Claude Code. Full bug testing has not yet been done (only partial testing so far), including but not limited to: whether the Mandate of Heaven claim against the Celestial Empire works correctly, whether event chains trigger reliably, and whether some laws and innovations have balance or triggering issues. Feedback and comments are welcome.

Hai Song — Major Update Preview: The Silent Land

The court believed the tribes had fallen silent out of fear — never knowing that it was the unbroken line of fortress-towns beneath the crimson banners that, for the first time, made them feel they belonged to a single realm.

Hai Song’s stage now crosses the coastline, pressing deep into the new continent men call the Silent Land. And it is anything but silent.

Playable Native American Empires

Several playable Native American empires — along with the vassal marches under Ming-Song rule — become available. The same frontier pressure gives rise to six utterly different kinds of state across the Great Plains, the Northwest Coast, the Mississippi, Mexico, the Andes, and the Eastern Woodlands — each with its own event chain, including, but not limited to, the campaign that can rewrite everything: the natives breaching the Pass.

Frontier Pressure: The Nemesis You Raised Yourself

The denser your forts, the more land you seize, the more horses and firearms you sell — the faster the tribes unite, and the stronger your nemesis grows. Yet should Ming-Song itself decline, the shadow empire sustained by your tribute may unravel with it. The tribes were never one people by nature — it was you who first made them realize they belonged to a single realm.

The Court SubUI, Fully Remade

Frontier pressure will be built into a redesigned Court SubUI, with a substantially reworked presentation — and the frontier empires, too, will each have their own version of the interface.

And should that day come at last — the cities laid to ruin, the topknots shorn, the right-fold robes turned to the left —
A realm may fall, yet its record shall not; a people may perish, yet its heart shall not.
Where now is the Heart-History of Suonan? The answer awaits.
