Pikemen (Updated 9/26/22)
Pikemen are a sidegrade to halberdiers, offering similarly improved performance vs. other state troops at the cost of no shields and increased cost. They have less melee attack, defense, and AP than halberdiers, but have better anti-large and are a little cheaper.
They benefit from the Pike Phalanx ability. When above 50% HP, their charge defense and melee stats are upgraded, turning them into defensive all-rounders capable of taking on regular infantry. Pikes therefore synergize well with defensive or healing magic.
They benefit from the same campaign bonus as halberdiers, i.e. Improved Heavy Weapons gives them permanent expert charge defense.
