This mod is a full conversion of Rimworld into a Mars colony sim

To continue playing this mod you can switch to the A16 branch of Rimworld, to do this you right click rimworld in the games library and go properties > betas then pick A16 from the dropdown, let it redownload the game and then you will have to disable all mods and remove any scenarios

Will this be updated?

Short answer is ABSOLUTELY YES!

Long answer…

Basically when it was time to update to a17 there was a problem that meant the planet was always blue, so then i focused on making standalone ports of mars features like the hygiene and reactors, they blew up and were really popular so i put more effort into those and decided to develop the next version of mars as standalone mods that people could play in vanilla rimworld and come up with features and iterate on them and work out all the kinks in those.

Then harmony came out and i could start fixing the problems in the old version of mars like making the planet red again, but it had already been a while since the last update and the new versions of rimworld didn’t add anything of any use to the mars mod, so i was happy to just leave it running in a16 until i finished a proper new version of mars with all the bells and whistles i wanted and more importantly much better code.

I carried on working on the other mods and refining stuff, coming up with new workflows, learning more about rimworld, coming up with new features for mars, doing more harmony patches, squishing bugs, did a couple of little side projects like mint menus, and i set fire to the original a16 version of mars and started recoding it entirely from scratch.

Now i have a whole bunch of features from all of my other mods, plus features i made just for mars, in a scratch made version with all new graphics much cleaner and more efficient code and making use of harmony, huge amounts of progress was made and way beyond anything i originally planned back in the a16 days, but of course with this amount of content i have released so far it means there are always bugs to squish, or mod compatibility issues, or things like multiplayer come out which require a lot of attention, so this all hinders progress on mars v4, but sometimes its a bug that would have been in mars anyway since it mostly uses a version of the same code, so 2 birds with 1 stone.

So as of this moment i’m still in the process of screwing all the bits together, i’m still solo on this project doing all the code and graphics, and have released a lot of content at the same time as working on this so you can gauge the kind of quality i try to reach from those, and if i had any brains i would have just made this a standalone game a long time ago, but i said i would make this mod so i will.
