Guanxi Overhaul – Enhanced Relationships, Events, and Stories
This mod injects more life into historic and generic characters, delivers a deeper Guanxi system, increases the importance of trait compatibility, enhances character relationship depth, and provides flavorful event dialogue to immerse yourself in the rich history of Three Kingdoms.

- Adds almost 1,000 events to Total War: Three Kingdoms that dramatically alter how nearby generals get along, how ministers harmonize or clash, and how subordinates respond to your ruler’s personality based on characters’ dozens of potential traits. For scale, 1,000 events is more than the base game of 3K and every DLC combined.
- Traits that are friendly or antagonistic against one another are greatly expanded for the purposes of said events.
- Changes the impact of interpersonal relationships on character loyalty. Friendships and rivalries within your empire, nearby characters, minister composition, and ruler relationships will matter a lot more.
- Adds banquet events – who will you toast?
- New low satisfaction events – generals with low satisfaction may occasionally try to turn your generals, your citizens, or other characters against you.
- Tweaks to how long generals remember you employing, executing, or releasing friends and rivals. Further, adds a jealousy satisfaction penalty for being passed over for court positions by lower ranked officers.
- More handcrafted flavor text to flesh out the events. Most events are currently placeholders as it will take some time to write the flavor text, but I wanted the mechanics in game ASAP.
- Expanded campaign effects based on flavor text. (Examples of both handwritten events as well as placeholder events shown in the screenshots.)
- More banquet events based on varying Guanxi parameters.
- Events with enemy generals AND rulers, expanding the Guanxi across all of China.
- More satisfaction based events
- Tweaks to tooltips to better represent context of all of these new events.
Compatibility:
It should technically work with any mod, but you’ll see funny behavior with anything that affects loyal or relationship tables. Works with any DLC. Should be OK to add mid-campaign but you never know with mods.
Translation:
A Chinese translation is under works. Still looking for a Korean translator.

Rating this mod and marking it as a favorite will also help!
Better Diplomacy – Improves AI diplomatic logic. Places a greater emphasis on long-term relationships and deals, discourages warmongering, creates more coalitions, and properly weights threats and allies based on proximity.
Dynamic Campaign+ – Splits the Han empire in the main campaign, increases the maximum potential threat of minor and major factions, and adds new unique benefits to the five minister positions.
