Description:

This is a small, hopefully lightweight and non-intrusive, little graphics addon simply shrinks most units, buildings, ships, borders, and other map features by around 25%-35%. The specific intention of this is to reduce clutter and make small provinces easier to select, but it serves the dual purpose of improving immersion for certain people who prefer their soldiers to be slightly smaller giants, rather than slightly larger giants.

Compatible with Europa Universalis IV version: 1.28
(Note it is designed for Beyond Typus, but does not require it)

Known Bugs, Issues, Problems, & Complaints

None.

Compatibility

This addon should be fully compatible with anything that does not affect graphics, and even a few select things that do. Incompatibilities *should* be limited to graphical oddities which promptly disappear when one or the other conflicting mod is disabled.

Old Save Compatibility?

This addon should have absolutely no impact on saved games when added or removed.

Achievements?

No. It appears some of the changed files prevent ironman/achievements.

May I Use Your Work In My Mod?

Generally, my policy is you may use my work if I may use yours, but please do let me know if you plan to do so.

More Information (In Question & Answer Format)
  • Does this mod contain anything *new*, like new graphics, new textures, new colours, or new artwork?
No, it simply resizes currently existing vanilla content.
  • Does this mod affect the sizes of DLC-added units and ships, too?
Yes, it should affect all units and map features except those added by other graphics mods.
  • If I subscribe to this mod, will it give me DLC content for free?
No. I know DLCs are expensive, I’m sorry, but fair is fair. This mod will not enable content you have not purchased, and does not contain any DLC content other that the text .gfx files neccessary to control units’ sizes.
  • I don’t have any DLCs/am missing some DLCs. What will happen if I use this mod?
If you use the full version while missing required DLCs, I’m honestly not sure what will happen. I tried testing it myself, and I did not personally notice any ill effects, but in theory it may cause some oddities and it does fill up the error log a bit.

Please see the tutorial here to customise this addon for your specific DLCs situation (It involves unziping the mod and deleting the files corresponding to the missing DLCs).

  • I like Beyond Typus, but I use a different graphics mod. Do I have to use this for a good BT experience?
No. Beyond Typus will function perfectly with or without this addon. It is simply a convenience for easier clicking and a matter of preference.
  • I don’t like Beyond Typus, but I like these changes. Can I use this mod with alone or with some other mod?
Yes. Despite the name, this mod is widely cross compatible with pretty much everything.
  • It would be really cool if you did X. Why don’t you change Y to look like Z?
It probably would be really cool, but I will not be modding anything graphics related because I am not an artist and am completely lacking in talent for anything involving art, meshes, textures, assets, visuals, and eye-candy. I’m afraid you’ll have to speak to someone else.
  • I’m an artist and I’d like to prove myself by making new content, are you interested in including it/can you help?
I want to encourage the community wherever possible to create and share new content, but I’m really not the one to speak to about graphics, textures, or meshes and I’d like to keep this addon minimalistic. If you’re interested in publishing your own mod with units intentionally sized to match this addon, I’d be honoured to link it, however.
  • There are tonnes of mods out there that do this and more, and do it much better at that. Why bother to upload this rubbish?
I am extremely graphically inept, but I required some graphical changes specifically designed to improve the appearance of my primary project, Beyond Typus, which adds a vast number of new provinces and reduce the average province size to levels that become difficult to select with units present, and render the full sized features messy and awkward looking.

The reason I did not simply direct people to a third party graphics mod is I would have no control over changes, features, sizes, updates, compatibility, or content to ensure a consistant and stable experience.
