Research and construct advanced turrets equipped with powerful mechanoid weapons.

Why did I make this mod?

While going through RimWorld’s art assets I was struck by how much the mechanoids’ weapons look like they could be the top of a turret. While there are other mods that make turrets with mechanoid weapons, they were either unbalanced or implemented in an un-vanilla-like way. Feeling an oppotunity existed to do it properly I took it, and made this mod.

Charge Lance Turret

– Build cost: 75 steel, 50 plasteel, 6 components, 75 metallic stuff
– Power requirement: 450 watts
– Analysis: In my tests, charge lance turrets aren’t actually all that great. While each shot is powerful, they only fire one. Their main advantage over standard turrets is range.

Inferno Turret

– Build cost: 50 steel, 50 plasteel, 50 uranium, 10 components, 100 metallic stuff
– Power requirement: 600 watts
– Analysis: While shorter-ranged than other options, inferno turrets mixed with deadfall traps and some light support proved to be extremely powerful. The main disadvantage is that they destroy some of the loot, and if you don’t build your killzone out of fireproof materials (like uranium) they could do more damage to you than the raiders. And, of course, they’re useless in rain or against mechanoids.

Blaster Turret

– Build cost: 75 steel, 75 plasteel, 25 uranium, 14 components, 125 metallic stuff
– Power requirement: 800 watts
– Analysis: These are rather like miniguns, with all the issues those bring to the table. I was never able to use them effectively but maybe you’ll be able to do better with them.
