Description:

Paradox games are praised and loved for presenting the player with great amount of options to alter history. However, desire to keep the games historically accurate and create historical starting dates may leave some players eager seeking something fresh and unseen. Like many other Alternative History mods, Conflux presents the player with a new starting bookmark in a world that had a very different history. Speaking of timelines, Conflux also allows the player to play the regular Grand campaign, at the same time keeping the new features and mechanics the mod adds.

Among my two main priorities was ensuring more enjoyable tall (peaceful and economy-focused) play and smarter expansion. Previously, Plato’s Europa had an Anti-Blobbing feature that was very simple and rigid. So, main mechanics are:
– ‘Great Production Points’ which allow expanded province development, such as powerful modifiers and even ability to change trade goods.
– ‘Crime’ which is affected by number of factors, including religious and cultural intolerance, corruption, instability, overextension and other features. Crime is harder to fight and should be contained with caution.
At current mod stage, following features have limited effects and will be expanded upon in future development:
– ‘Lawgiver Points’ are closely interwoven with Criminality. Large Lawgiver points make eradicating crime, creating cores and ensuring that law is followed much more efficient.
– ‘Culture Points’ represent how much beautiful pieces of art, music, literature, as well as architecture the country has given birth to. They mostly affect prestige, but at high levels – army morale and other things as well.
– ‘Literacy’ affects national – guess what – literacy. Greater literacy means greater economy and technological advancement.

Previously mentioned mechanics are not the only thing that was added. Pretty much every relevant mechanic or feature of the game has been overhauled/expanded upon. These include, but are not limited to:
– National Values, which affect relations with other countries and potential events, reforms and ideas the country may experience.
– Expanded Timeline, which includes a New Age and Technologies.
– New Provinces in Northern Europe and Middle East, as well as more flavor to existing ones, for example, Wonders like Alhambra, Economic modifiers like Damascus Armories, Holy Sites and more.
– New Religions with their special flavor, most importantly – European pagan ones, which include their own personal deities, unique technology group and unique units.
– New National and Group Ideas, including policies.
– New Governments and Government reforms, including new Factions.
– New Missions, Disasters, Decisions and Events.
– New trade goods and greater trade good interaction.

As I was adding new religions, personal deities and tradegoods to the game, I experienced a problem that the new icons I have drawn for them kinda stand out from the vanilla ones, thus breaking the aesthetic unity. So, I completely redrawn icons for religions and trade goods. I have also made new loading screens, which serve as a speculation how would pagan soldiers look like if they lived to see the gunpowder warfare. Other minor changes, such as idea icon replacements are not worth mentioning.
Graphical map mods are incompatible, because I have also changed the visuals of the map (see screenshots).

I have spent good amount of sweat and urine working on my mod and have decided to finally release it. There is still lots of things I can add and expand upon. A great encouragement would be not just kind words and likes on workshop page, but monetary support as well. If I’ll see that this mod can help me get by, I would love to return to mod’s development.
