Description:

Now you, comrade, can access energy life has used since the beginning. Volcanic vents may have spawned life billions of years ago, but now it can keep the proletariat warm and the lights on in the factories.

Geothermal energy is gaining popularity because it produces almost no pollution, releasing only trace gases from the Earth. Iceland produces nearly all its power from geothermal energy. Some old Soviet plants are still operational today.

In game, for balancing purposes, the plants are very expensive to build (1.5~2.5x more than coal) and require an extra team of engineers to monitor the complex systems, but they do not require fuel. The plants require a long tunneling process, so they take a long time to build (to represent the multi-km long plumbing deep underground). The power stations require deeper, more expensive drilling to get to hotter rock that can more efficiently run steam turbines.
