Description:

Ever noticed that Melee cannot crit in Chimera Squad? This is a quick fix to all melee abilities in game and allows them to crit.

Note that in exchange for Zephyr to be allowed to crit just as many times as a gun would, she is no longer able to automatically hit with guaranteed 100% accuracy. It will be close and as you level up will practically become negligible. This is a straight up buff to Zephyr UNLESS you enjoy attacking targets in a smoke cloud while you are disoriented and poisoned. I understand some people feel strongly about the Templar/Zephyr autohit so may not enjoy this.

All units get 33% to crit with melee by default which is the normal flanking bonus.

Axiom didn’t have autohit, so he obeys regular rules (he gets 33% crit also).

Torque’s Bite also gets the crit.

BREACH BONUS

Why yes, Zephyr will now benefit from "all attacks in this slot will hit" and "all attacks in this slot will crit". Same for Axiom but he could already use the hit. Torque only has her last ability that has to hit or crit, Bind isnt affected.

DIFFICULTY

Note that unless you use Zephyr or Axiom, this is a straight up massive buff to all enemies. It makes the game more difficult against melee opponents.

SUBDUAL

In the game Subdual doesn’t have crit damage, so if Subdue crits it will be for the same damage normally.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION OF THE BUG

XC:CS seems to ignore completely in the calc methods whether an ability is reactive or not and considers ALL melee abilities reactive, which causes them to lose their Crit bonus at all times. I bypassed the issue by creating a fake "Cool Under Pressure" ability and tied it to all characters, which means that all Melee abilities can now Crit properly.

KNOWN ISSUES

Minor: During breach, the Hit and Crit chances shown are incorrect for Zephyr. The ability only kicks in after she starts running towards the enemy.

Medium: All units now can crit using Reaction Fire shots. I find this side effect pleasurable and wanted, but if you really dislike it just don’t sub to this. There is no fix possible until Firaxis patches the game, and a patch is not on the horizon.

VERSIONS

V1.1 – Fearless Advance causes Panic 50% of the time when Zephyr hits.

V1.2 – Fixed base game bug where Big Damn Punch from Andromedon Crits for TWELVE DAMAGE (its down to 2)

V1.3 – Forgot QuickBite! Done.

V1.4 – Made extra sure all units, even ones without Melee, get this ability.
