Description:
Loreful Landmarks

Version 2.1

Ever since Warhammer 2 launched one thing I found myself consistently doing throughout my campaigns was always trying to find all the new Landmark buildings that they added to the game. I was always disappointed by the lack uniqueness in how almost all the Settlements felt in WH1. Each one eventually becoming just another cookie cutter copy of all the others, (income, trade, garrison, port, religion/research, repeat), so when WH2 rolled out and I find a Landmark in almost every Ulthuan city or town, it felt like a kid in a candy store. Crafting unique settlement builds in order to maximize the benefits that only this one province could create. From Training Dragons in Calador, recruiting arcane masters from the Tower of Hoeth, to hiring murders in Har Ganeth and getting to experience the wealth generated by the Druchi Slave Trade in the Broken Lands.

So I’ve spent some time here and there planning the first of what I hope to be many updates to my Landmark Mods for all the Races of the Old and New worlds. So I’m starting off with my first love (don’t get jealous Morathi), and the faction I think needs this the most, the Dukedoms of Bretonnia.

To start I set a couple ground rules for myself.

  1. Stay as Loreful as possible, each of these regions already has their own deep histories so I’ll be looking to build around their established identities.
  2. If an area or settlement doesn’t have notable buildings, features, or locations I’m going to try not force it to. The goal isn’t to create uniqueness for uniqueness sake.
  3. Everything should be balanced or reasonable. Comparable to Vanilla Landmark benefits and costs, though with some new and hopefully enjoyable gameplay mechanics.

Currently there are 45 new unique Landmarks that span all of the Bretonnian Dukedoms, (with the 3 original either moved or adjusted to be better balanced and more Loreful) The Southern Realms of Estalia and Tilea. As well as all of Araby and Nehekhara. [THE FULL LIST IS LINKED IN THE DISSCUSSION] My overall plan is to continue to build this mod up over time, but when it’s all said and done it will include:

Phase 1
– Bretonnian Landmarks
– TEB Landmarks
– Araby Landmarks
– Tomb King Landmarks
– Finish Writing Unique Flavor Text
– Finish Editing Final Building Icons
– Update for Norsca

Phase 2
– Empire-Kislev Landmarks
– Vampiric Landmarks

Phase 3
– Dwarven Landmarks
– Greenskin Landmarks

Phase 4
– Lizardmen Landmarks
– Skaven Landmarks

Phase 5
– Elven Landmarks (They Already Have the Most)

I’d love to hear any thoughts or ideas such as more Landmark suggestions and the possible effects for some of them, as well as any opinions for or against any of these ideas and suggestions. So feel free to leave suggestions in the Discussion page I started. I’ll be checking it 2-3 times a week, so I apologize if I don’t get back to people right away.

NOTICE:

Currently compatable with multiple scripting Mods like the community scripting framework and with Crynos Faction unlocker, (however there are some graphical bugs like two building icons instead of one, doesn’t effect the buildings though)

Disclaimer:

I do not claim any of the artwork in the photo gallery, as for the in game building icons, I used a combination of existing vanilla icon artwork, as well as icon artwork from the beautiful building progression icons mod, as well as the Southern Realms mod for the Miragliano Canals icon.

Special thanks to the Modding community and Crynsos for solving my scripting problem
