Immersive cultures – The Ealdormen Stand
The second mod in the Immersive cultures series, this time we’re tackling the Anglo-Saxons. Paradox did an amazing job making the Anglo-Saxon culture feel distinct, all this mod does, is look to build on whats already there. As with the Norse factions mod, I have done my best to remain authentic but some liberties have been taken where i felt it was needed.
All changes are cosmetic – Does not effect the vanilla game balance.
( Only affects Anglo-Saxon culture )
Name changes –
Petty king – King ( Only applies to independent rulers )
Duke – Eorl ( Old english spelling for Earl – Earl was closer in status to a Duke than a count )
Duchess – Eorless
Count/Earl – Ealdorman ( Precursor to the Eorl )
Countess – Ealdorwoman
Reeve – unchanged
Sheriff – unchanged
Grand mayor – High Reeve ( Primarily an administrative title )
Title changes –
Petty kingdom – Kingdom ( Only applies to independent rulers )
County/Earldom – Ealdormanry ( Lands held by an Ealdorman )
Duchy – Eorldom
Counties under a republic vassal are Shires
Duchies under a republic vassal were called republics – this has been changed to Shire
City holdings/Burough – unchanged
Church holdings/Bishopric – Priory ( Not perfect but more appropriate than Bishopric )
Castle holding – Burh ( Fortified towns and holdings constructed by Alfred the great )
If you manage to unite the Empire of Britannia, you will be granted the title Bretwalda ( King of kings ).
If you would like your knights to be renamed Huscarls, it’s included in the Norse factions mod in the collection above. This is for compatibility sake. Culture specific knights will eventually be their own mod but this was the best solution for now.
Fully save game compatible as far as i can tell.
Should be compatible with anything that does not alter the Anglo-Saxon culture.
Suggestions on how to expand or refine the mod are welcome, as well as any issues or bugs that need fixing.
